Mercury waived G Celeste Taylor, G Megan McConnell and F Temira Poindexter.
With Kitija Laksa due to join the Mercury after being overseas during training camp, there was essentially one less spot available as head coach Nate Tibbetts finalized his roster. That may have cost Taylor, whose release caught many by surprise. The 2024 second-round pick of the Fever appeared in 15 games with the Mercury last season, averaging 3.5 points, 1.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.0 steals. McConnell and Poindexter were in Mercury camp as undrafted rookies and faced long odds of making the final roster.
