Kalani Brown added 12 points (5-of-7 FGs, 1-of-2 FTs), five rebounds, one block and one three-pointer off the bench during Thursday night’s 97-76 loss to the Wings in 24 minutes of play during the Mercury’s final regular season game prior to the playoffs.
Brown had her most productive evening scoring the basketball since July 16 when the Mercury played the Lynx and lost 79-66 and she scored 11 points in over 19 minutes of play. All of Brown’s five field goals were assisted as four different players found her. Her former Dallas Wings teammate Satou Sabally executed pick-and-roll actions with Brown in addition to Alyssa Thomas and Kianna Williams finding Brown near the rim. Kathryn Westbeld kicked the ball out to Brown for a three-pointer, Brown’s third made three-pointer of the season.
  • G Kianna Williams signed a rest of season contract with the Mercury.
After three 7-day contracts, the Mercury signed reserve guard Kianna Williams to a rest of the season contract. While Williams hasn’t seen the floor much, having guard depth will be important for the Mercury in the last weeks of the season especially when Monique Akoa Makani has been in and out of the lineup with a knee injury.
  • Kiana Williams amassed 17 points (7-of-8 FGs), three rebounds, four assists, one steal and three three-pointers in the Mercury’s win over the Wings on Monday.
In just her third game of the season, Williams utilized some extra minutes to log a career-high in points. The fifth-year guard went scoreless in the fourth quarter but not before an eight-point third quarter put her into double figures for the first time this season. Williams had previously tallied five total minutes of gameplay for the year. Once the Mercury’s key rotation players return from injury, she’ll likely see her minutes reduced.
