Dallas Wings vs Golden State Valkyries Game Preview:
The Wings are currently eighth in the league following their 98-87 loss to the Indiana Fever on Friday night. Bueckers led the team with 29 points and Arike Ogunbowale added 20, but it wasn’t enough to stop the Fever’s fourth-quarter surge. Indiana outscored Dallas 35-21 in the final ten minutes.
It was Dallas’ fourth straight road loss. The Wings have struggled to win consecutive games since the All-Star break.
“This happens to every team in the league throughout the course of a long season. We’re just trying to get through it,” said Bueckers to Title IX Sports last Tuesday. “The only way is through; the only one that can help us out of our little rut is us, and it’s all about the next game, the next possession. Not looking too far in the past, not looking forward in the future, but just trying to get better today.”
Dallas, now 20-15, has surpassed its win total of 19 from the previous 2 seasons combined, and is seeking its first postseason appearance since 2023.
The Valkyries, currently 24-12, can clinch their second straight playoff appearance with a win tonight, joining the Minnesota Lynx and Las Vegas Aces.
Defense has been the driving force behind the Valkyries’ success, with Golden State surrendering a league-low 76.9 points per game.
Golden State enters tonight’s match up on a five-game win streak and 3.5 games behind the league-leading Lynx.
