Indiana Fever vs Las Vegas Aces Game Preview:
Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston led the Indiana Fever to a 92-89 win against the Phoenix Mercury on Thursday night. Phoenix led by 10 in the third quarter, but Indiana rallied back with a 13-0 run to take the lead. A clutch layup by Mitchell with 10.1 seconds remaining sealed the win for the Fever, who were without Caitlin Clark.
Clark was sidelined for a scheduled rest day.
Mitchell finished with 29 points and 8 assists, Boston had 21 points and 9 rebounds, and Tyasha Harris added 15.
“Our resilience, our ability to stay neutral in terms of our mindset to answer runs, to not give into the fatigue, to circumstance, just really proud of this group,” said Fever coach Stephanie White after the win. “We grew tonight. Our execution down the stretch I thought, was excellent on both sides of the floor.”
In her first game back following a three-game absence due to an ankle injury, A’ja Wilson powered the Aces to an 88-80 win over the Portland Fire on Thursday night, finishing with 32 points and 10 rebounds. Jackie Young added 19 points and 11 assists.
The Aces and Fever meet exactly seven days after Indiana handed Las Vegas an 84-68 loss in their first meeting of the season. Both teams were playing without their star players, Wilson and Clark, in the matchup.
On Sunday, both players are expected to be available as Las Vegas looks to even the series.
