It’s the same back issue that forced Witt to miss Sunday’s game against San Diego. He exited in the fourth inning after going 0-for-1 with a walk and was replaced at shortstop by Nick Loftin. The Royals should provide another update on his status after the game. Back injuries have a tendency to linger, making this a situation fantasy managers will want to monitor closely throughout the rest of the week.

Kotsay noted that might be a bit of an accelerated timeline, but Kurtz appears to be making a rapid recovery from a thumb sprain that put him on the shelf just prior to the All-Star break. It’s unclear how much time Meyer will miss after throwing just 74 pitches across three innings on Saturday against the Brewers. The 27-year-old emerging Marlins ace was outstanding during the first half, earning his first All-Star Game selection in the process. However, he’s already up to 111 innings, which is right around his previous career-high mark set back in 2024. It’s a tough break for Miami, and fantasy managers, but Meyer could probably use an extended break at this point in the year. There should be some clarity on his status in the coming days.

Lopez takes a seat for the second consecutive contest with inflammation in his right ring finger. The positive news for the Marlins, and fantasy managers, is that initial X-rays came back negative and he doesn’t appear to be facing an extended absence. The 27-year-old middle infielder has been an unexpected breakout sensation, delivering first-round fantasy value this season, slashing .335/.368/.505 with 61 runs scored, nine homers, 46 RBI and 18 stolen bases across 419 plate appearances through 97 games. It’ll be Javier Sanoja taking over at shortstop in his place on Monday night.

Rutschman winds up requiring a trip to the injured list for the third time this season after missing time over the weekend with a wrist issue. There should be additional clarity on his status once he undergoes imaging to determine the severity of the issue. It’s worth noting that Samuel Basallo is also dealing with a shoulder issue, so the Orioles are going to have to get creative at catcher in the coming days.

Good news. Carroll was removed from Sunday’s game after going 1-for-4 with two strikeouts. If he needs Monday off, Jorge Barrosa will probably get a start in the outfield.

Goodman has been the subject of trade rumors as of late, and this certainly didn’t hurt his stock if he truly is available. The three roundtrippers bring him up to 30 on the season, and he was able to plate five, improving his RBI total to 56. Goodman was a breakout star last year, but he’s been even better in 2026 with those aforementioned totals and an .886 OPS to go with them. He’s probably staying in Colorado — why on Earth they would trade him is anyone’s guess — but Goodman has the type of power that will play in whatever park he lands in.

Imanaga didn’t have to be at his best with Zebby Matthews giving up a couple handfuls of runs, but he certainly was close to it. The southpaw scattered six hits and a walk, and he was able to strike out four. He generated nine swings-and-misses, and just seven balls hit off Imanaga registered as hard contact. Imanaga will take a 3.91 ERA into a scheduled start Saturday against the Pirates.
