Bills CB Aaron Williams was carted off the field Sunday with a chest injury.
Williams was flipped upside down, landing awkwardly on his helmet and shoulder. His teammates went in a prayer circle after a couple of minutes, usually a sign of a serious injury. He’s done for the day, but hopefully alright in the long run.
  • FA Defensive Back #23
Bills declared CB Aaron Williams, LT Demetrius Bell, OT Colin Brown, DT Torell Troup, DE Chris Kelsay, CB Terrence Wheatley and LB Chris White inactive for Week 5 against the Eagles.
LCB Terrence McGee (hamstring) is active for the first time since Week 1. His return comes not a moment too soon for the Bills’ 25th ranked pass defense, who will have to contend with an Eagles’ passing attack that is really beginning to click. With Williams out with a broken collarbone, the Bills are left with just Justin Rogers and Drayton Florence at cornerback behind McGee and Leodis McKelvin. Rookie Chris Hairston will protect Ryan Fitzpatrick’s blindside in Bell’s absence.
  • FA Defensive Back
The Bills are expected to keep six cornerbacks, which confirms that Leodis McKelvin is on the roster bubble.
Aaron Williams and rookie Stephon Gilmore are the favorites to start. Terrence McGee is likely to return in a nickel corner capacity. Drayton Florence is due $4 million this season, so it’s fair to wonder if the 31-year-old’s roster spot is in jeopardy. No. 124 pick Ron Brooks is considered a lock to make the team, which means Leodis McKelvin and Justin Rogers currently sit sixth and seventh on the depth chart. Our guess is that McKelvin is the odd man out.
  • FA Defensive Back #23
The Bills are expected to use Aaron Williams and Stephon Gilmore as their outside corners in the nickel package, with Terrence McGee covering the slot.
Justin Rogers and rookie Ron Brooks will vie for the second slot job in the dime package, while No. 6 CB Leodis McKelvin may be reduced to punt returns only. Williams, the 34th overall pick in the 2011 draft, struggled mightily in pass coverage as a rookie but played with physicality. He figures to be the Bills’ primary left cornerback with Gilmore stationed on the right side.
  • FA Defensive Back #23
Bills CB Aaron Williams (knee) is expected to miss just one game.
Williams, the No. 34 overall pick in this year’s draft, has avoided serious damage despite what looked like a major injury when he went down last week. Look for Leodis McKelvin to start Sunday’s game against the Chargers. Philip Rivers is suddenly trending up.
  • FA Defensive Back #23
Bills rookie CB Aaron Williams was cleared for contact Thursday for the first time since injuring his collarbone in Week 3.
Williams is pushing to play in a homecoming game at Dallas, but that will depend if he can pick up the game plan in time for Sunday. Even if he’s active, he’ll likely be eased in behind Terrence McGee and Drayton Florence.
  • FA Defensive Back #23
Bills CB Aaron Williams left Sunday’s game against the Titans with a knee injury in the third quarter and will not return.
Williams, the No. 34 overall pick in this year’s draft, is done for the day. Leodis McKelvin has come on.
  • FA Defensive Back
Bills CB Leodis McKelvin appears to have fallen behind rookie Justin Rogers as well as Aaron Williams.
McKelvin had been coming on in nickel situations since losing his starting job five weeks ago. When Terrence McGee (knee) went down last week, though, Williams and Rogers played ahead of McKelvin. Williams will start Sunday with Rogers in the slot, leaving McKelvin without a role.

Bills declared CB Aaron Williams (knee) inactive for Sunday’s game against the Chargers.
Coach Chan Gailey expressed late-week hope that Williams would be able to go, so we’d expect a Week 15 return. Leodis McKelvin will start, upgrading the matchup for Philip Rivers. The rest of the Bills inactives: WR Kamar Aiken, TE Fendi Onobun, TE Scott Chandler, T Sam Young, LB Antonio Coleman and S Josh Nesbitt.

Coach Chan Gailey was encouraged by the potential 2011 second-round CB Aaron Williams showed as a rookie.
Gailey wants Williams to improve his training to get through 16 games without injury. “But I thought he showed potential to be a very good corner in this league for a long time,” said Gailey. “He matches up well size-wise.”
