AJ Ramos has announced his retirement from professional baseball.
Ramos, who sustained a season-ending shoulder injury earlier this spring in Angels’ camp, made the announcement on his personal Twitter account. The 35-year-old righty was a dominant reliever early in his nine-year career, which included stints with the Marlins, Mets, Angels and Rockies. He finishes with 99 saves to go along with a 3.04 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 430/205 K/BB ratio across 373 1/3 innings since 2012.

AJ Ramos (shoulder) will likely miss the entire 2022 season after being diagnosed with a torn capsule in his right shoulder.
Brutal news. The 35-year-old veteran righty sustained the injury during a Cactus League relief appearance last weekend and appears to be done for the entire 2022 season. It’s entirely possible that this injury winds up ending his professional career.

AJ Ramos exited Sunday’s Cactus League contest against the Giants with right shoulder soreness.
Ramos is in Angels’ camp as a non-roster invitee and this latest injury likely ends his bid for a spot on the team’s Opening Day roster. The severity of the injury is unclear, but it seems like he’s going to miss some time.

AJ Ramos exited a Cactus League relief appearance Sunday with an injury.
It’s unclear what happened at the moment, but Ramos was forced to depart after retiring just one batter in the fifth inning. The 35-year-old righty has struggled to stay healthy the last few years, but managed to get back to the majors last season. There should be an update on his status shortly.

Angels signed RHP AJ Ramos to a minor league contract.
The offer to the 35-year-old comes with an invitation to spring training. Ramos tossed only 4 2/3 innings at the major league level last season, allowing zero earned runs and striking out three. The right-hander carried a 5.26 ERA over 53 frames in Triple-A.

Angels purchased the contract of RHP AJ Ramos from Triple-A Salt Lake.
Ramos was signed to a minor league deal in the offseason, and gets his first chance for MLB action in 2021. The 35-year-old posted a 5.26 ERA in Triple-A, but did have 76 strikeouts over 53 innings. He’ll be a middle-innings option for the rest of the season.

Angels signed RHP AJ Ramos to a minor league contract.
Ramos will report to the Angels’ alternate training site and build up from there. The veteran reliever bounced around a number of different teams in 2020 and logged only three total appearances at the major league level, all in late September with the Rockies. But he holds a sharp 3.08 ERA in 368 2/3 career innings at the major league level and could be a contributor at some point out of the Halos’ bullpen.

Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports that free agent reliever AJ Ramos has been drawing interest and will throw for teams on Tuesday.
Ramos made it back to the major leagues, surrendering one run on four hits with three walks and one strikeout over 2 2/3 frames (three appearances), with the Rockies during the 60-game sprint season last year. He missed nearly two full years after undergoing shoulder surgery during the 2018 campaign. The 34-year-old righty owns a pristine 3.08 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 427/203 K/BB ratio across 368 2/3 innings in his career. He’ll compete for an Opening Day roster spot somewhere this spring.

The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal hears the Rockies are set to promote reliever AJ Ramos.
Ramos last pitched in the major leagues on May 26, 2018, before undergoing shoulder surgery that’s kept him on the sidelines ever since. It’ll be a nice, if short, showcase for the 33-year-old as he tries to find a major league contract ahead of 2021.
