Blue Jays placed RHP Alan Farina on the 60-day disabled list.
He was cleared to make room for the newly-signed Rick VandenHurk on the 40-man roster. Farina underwent Tommy John surgery last July and is unlikely to pitch in a game until later this summer. The 25-year-old could be a useful bullpen piece in the long term.

Blue Jays activated RHP Alan Farina from the 60-day disabled list; optioned him to High-A Dunedin.
Farina is currently working his way back from Tommy John surgery last July. The 25-year-old right-hander has allowed five runs on four hits and three walks over his first 2 2/3 innings with Dunedin. He’ll likely head up to Double-A once he’s back to full health.

Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos has indicated that the drug of choice was marijuana. Farina, 26, spent last season at High-A, posting a 5.18 ERA over 24 appearances.
