Mets signed RHP Andre Scrubb to a minor league contract.
Scrubb made 38 relief appearances for the Astros from 2020-2021, but didn’t pitch this past season due to injury. MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo adds that the 28-year-old righty has been throwing in the mid-90’s recently in the Puerto Rican Winter League. Andre Scrubb walked three and struck out two over 2 2/3 emergency innings of work in Tuesday’s loss to the Orioles.
Tough times for starting pitchers in this one, as both Jose Urquidy and Travis Lakins exited early in the contest due to injuries. Scrubb came on in relief and kept the Astros off the scoreboard in his stead. Not that he made it easy on himself -- he walked three even despite not allowing a hit. Nothing out of the ordinary, there, as Scrubb has walked 10 batters in his last five appearances. He has no fantasy value.
