The Bulls have fired head coach Jim Boylen.
Boylen replaced Fred Hoiberg in 2018 but had very little success, compiling just 39 wins compared to 84 losses. He struggled to connect with key players such as Zach LaVine and Lauri Markkanen and lost the locker room a while ago. “After doing a comprehensive evaluation and giving the process the time it deserved, I ultimately decided that a fresh approach and evolution in leadership was necessary,” executive Arturas Karnisovas said in a statement. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Bulls will begin their search for a new coach immediately and four names have already surfaced: Denver assistant Wes Unseld, former Nets coach Kenny Atkinson, Toronto assistant Adrian Griffin and Bucks assistant Darvin Ham.

Bulls writer Joe Cowley said this week that head coach Jim Boylen will inevitably be replaced by the team’s new management.
“It’s just not what the players have said [critical of Boylen],” Cowley said. “There are other personnel that have had a mixed bag with Jim, and there’s some circumstances behind some things that I think are already known and will come out ... his fate is kind of sealed.” This isn’t a big surprise, and Cowley reported last week that Ime Udoka is a “front-runner” to replace Boylen.

Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times reports that Imu Udoka is the “front-runner to become the Bulls’ new [head] coach,” replacing current coach Jim Boylen.
Cowley adds that former Bulls assistant Adrian Griffin, currently with Toronto, is “also in the picture.” The strong implication is that Boylen won’t be retained by the new management duo of executive VP Arturas Karnisovas and GM Marc Eversley. That wouldn’t be shocking, since Boylen has a .317 win percentage with the Bulls and was reportedly criticized by players in introductory interviews with Karnisovas.

Chicago native Adam Amin will replace Neil Funk as the Bulls television play-by-play man for the 2020-21 NBA season.
Funk is retiring and Amin will work alongside Stacey King on the Bulls broadcasts on NBC Sports Chicago at the start of the new season.

Bulls player development coach Shawn Respert will not return after the 2019-20 season.
“I want to grow,” Respert said. “The Bulls gave me an opportunity, and I feel I outgrew it. I hope I left the organization in a better place. That’s all I tried to do.” The Bulls have new management which hopes to emphasize player development, but this was reportedly a decision made by head coach Jim Boylen. We expect multiple hirings in the coming weeks to fill Respert’s role and flesh out the Bulls’ development staff.

Several key Bulls players have made the case to move on from coach Jim Boylen, according to a Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times.
Per the report, Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley have already had detailed discussions with players and retained personnel, and they are leaning toward starting with a new coach and moving on from Boylen once a decision on the season is made by the league. There have been multiple reports that Boylen is likely gone, which is hardly surprising with the Bulls cleaning house in the front office.

Multiple rival executives anticipate that the Bulls will replace Jim Boylen, according to Darnell Mayberry of The Athletic.
Boylen is one of the most unpopular coaches among NBA fanbases, and it certainly makes sense that EVP Arturas Karnisovas will want to build the Bulls in his image to bring in his own coach. Per the report, Boylen is still working as if he’ll be in place next season. Considering that Karnisovas had said that the Bulls will want to prioritize player development, it’s likely that Boylen will be gone before the start of the 2020-21 season.

The Bulls have fired general manager Gar Forman.
This was inevitable after the Bulls hired Arturas Karnisovas as their Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations. Forman was with the Bulls for 22 years and still had two years left on his deal, but it’s not a surprise to see the franchise move on with little to show from the last decade. As for former VP of Basketball Operations John Paxson, he will be moving into a senior advisory role and will not be around the team daily according to K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports.

The Bulls officially named Arturas Karnisovas as their Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations.
It’s an excellent hire by the Bulls and Karnisovas will immediately be in charge of all decisions made in Chicago’s basketball operations department. His resume speaks for itself with successful stints in the front offices of Houston and Denver, and he brings some hope to a franchise that has been mismanaged for far too long. “This is the height of a dream for me, and I am prepared for the challenge that it presents,” Karnisovas said. “I grew up watching the Chicago Bulls.” He’s expected to announce who he will hire as a GM in the near future, likely before he makes a decision on coach Jim Boylen.

The Bulls are hiring Pelicans executive JJ Polk as assistant general manager under head of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas.
This report confirms K.C. Johnson’s report on NBC Sports Chicago that the Bulls were looking to hire Polk, and he’ll be Karnisovas’ first hire in the Bulls front office. Polk is a cap specialist, has worked for the Pelicans for close to a decade, and has a law degree from University of Illinois.
