Athletics activated outfielder Ben Copeland from the 15-day disabled list.
Copeland is very likely to prove to be a waste of a roster spot, but what’s one more? The Rule 5 pick from the Giants organization hit .261/.334/.417 in 372 at-bats for Double-A Connecticut last season. He had gone 6-for-13 on his rehab assignment after going down this spring with a sprained shoulder.

Athletics selected outfielder Ben Copeland from the Giants with the 10th pick in the Rule 5 draft.
Copeland hit .261/.334/.417 in 372 at-bats for Double-A Connecticut and .341/.417/.388 in 85 at-bats for Triple-A Fresno as a 24-year-old last season. He stole 24 bases in all. An average defensive center fielder and a left-handed hitter, he has a chance at a career as a reserve outfielder. If the A’s carry him, it would likely be at the expense of another outfielder they picked up from the Giants, Rajai Davis.
