Presidents Cup: Back to the Zurich Champs

Xander Schauffele

Orlando Ramirez-USA TODAY Sports

The President’s Cup is underway, and the first round wasn’t short of its surprises. Early in the day, the United States had a commanding 5-0 lead. However, Si Woo Kim and Cam Davis stormed back after being down through 15 to winning the next three holes. Unfortunately, Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns were a part of my round-one parlay. For round two, the golfers will be playing fourballs, meaning they each will play their own balls and then take the lowest score between the two. I have one two-ball play. The price is juiced, but it’s the line I feel comfortable backing.

Patrick Cantlay/Xander Schauffele (-150) over Hideki Matsuyama/Tom Kim

I’m going back to ole reliable for today’s bet. Cantlay and Schauffele have been the team to beat. They were dynamite in the last Presidents Cup, dominant in the Ryder Cup, won the Zurich Classic, and were unbeatable in round one of this year’s Presidents Cup. Their team chemistry is great to watch and even better to bet on. Betting Adam Scott and Hideki Matsuyama 6&5 might be more impressive than winning Zurich. Cantlay and Schauffele are third and fourth in Strokes Gained: Total, whereas Matsuyama and Kim are eighth and tenth. It will be a good match between the two, but I am backing the two best friends who are seemingly unbeatable when paired together.
