Jung is likely to return to Cactus League action in a couple days, if not sooner, as he continues to work his way back from an adductor strain that put him on the shelf earlier in camp. The 28-year-old third baseman will go undrafted in most fantasy leagues but is a name to watch on waiver wires based on his talent.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora has told reporters on several occasions this spring that Mayer will have to earn the starting role at second base in camp, which means any sort of extended absence would diminish his chances with just under two weeks left until Opening Day. The 23-year-old top prospect figures to continue sitting against left-handed starters with Andruw Monasterio and Isiah Kiner-Falefa getting some opportunities in a short-side platoon role. It doesn’t sound like he’s going to miss too much time here with Cora adding that Mayer should be back in the lineup on Tuesday.

The 27-year-old will open the regular season on the injured list with shoulder inflammation but the positive news here is that additional testing didn’t reveal any structural damage and he’ll begin ramping up his throwing program in the coming weeks. It seems like he’s going to miss at least a few months, if not longer, to open the year.

Fernandez made 32 relief appearances for the Cardinals as a rookie last season and will open the year back in the minors as extra organizational depth. Naughton is one of the more prominent names here as he figures to be an option for St. Louis in middle relief at some point during the year. Jordan is a power-hitting corner infield prospect with some thunder in his bat and could wind up getting a look at some point later this season.

The 26-year-old slugger clobbered a 396-foot (104.8 mph EV) three-run shot off of Luis Gil in the opening inning that gave the Tigers an early 3-0 edge. He’s off to a very slow start overall this spring, hitting just .179 (5-for-28) with the one home run and four RBI.

Grenee unloaded on a Luis Gil fastball in the third inning, crushing a 438-foot (110.8 mph EV) solo shot that extended the Tigers’ lead to 7-0. That would be his lone hit in three at-bats on the afternoon. For the spring, the 25-year-old slugger is hitting .222 (6-for-27) with a pair of homers and six RBI.
