Vaughn Dalzell breaks down why to grab Immanuel Quickley to win the NBA’s Sixth-Man Award.
Immanuel Quickley to win 6-MAN (-105)
No one is hotter in the NBA Futures market than Immanuel Quickly right now.
The Knicks guard has taken over as the favorite for the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year Award after scoring a season-high 38 points on the Celtics in 2 OT. Quickley now is a -105 to -200 favorite at shops, while Brogdon is now +100 or better everywhere.
With the Knicks current 9-game winning streak influencing this line down to -105 from +180 and +300 over the weekend, we have no chance but grab something now at -105.
It’s a sad day to hedge out of Brogdon at +1600 to 1, but we must at this point. It’s a two-player race.
Off the bench, here are both player’s stats.
Quickley: 12.2 PPG, 3.9 RPG, 2.8 APG in 25.4 MPG (54 games)
Brogdon: 14.6 PPG, 4.1 RPG, 3.7 APG in 25.4 MPG (54 games)
Brogdon has a slight advantage, but all of his games have come off the bench. Quickly has 11 starts under his belt where he averages 19.4 PPG, 5.1 RPG and 4.9 APG in 41.0 MPG, which influences his stats to look a bit better overall and shows how valuable he can be. Tyler Herro started 10 games last year and ran away with this award.
The Knicks also have dramatic on-and-off the court splits with Quickley and his advanced splits are just as good as anyone’s offensively and defensively for his team, which makes him a little more valuable than Brogdon right now. Individually, Quickley ranks 10th in the NBA for defensive net rating (107.3), which is incredible.
Plus, Brogdon is injured and missed 11 games this season overall as they have managed him since acquiring him from Indiana. If Brogdon misses a few more games, Quickley will be -200 or -300 for this award, so we have no option to grab him and by we, I mean people that bet Brogdon already.
Grab Quickley at whatever price you can get him because chances are IQ takes control of the race for NBA Sixth Man.
