Free agent QB Brian Brohm will participate in Saints rookie minicamp this weekend.
Saints coaches also got a look at Brohm back in March when he threw passes for Randy Moss’ workout. The former Packers second-rounder last played in 2010 with the Bills. He owns a 51.9 completion percentage and eye-catching 26.0 passer rating on 52 career attempts. Ex-Bills TE Derek Schouman will also work out for the Saints.

Free agent QB Brian Brohm will throw passes during Randy Moss’ Tuesday workout for the Saints.
Allowed to walk as a restricted free agent by the Bills last season, the former second-round pick drew no public interest before eventually signing with the UFL’s Las Vegas Locomotives. Brohm has likely thrown his last NFL pass.

Ex-Bills QB Brian Brohm has signed with the CFL’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
That’s not “Tigers” or “Cats,” but Tiger-Cats. The former second-round flop hasn’t appeared in a game since 2010, and could end his NFL career with just 52 regular-season pass attempts. Brohm is one of Packers GM Ted Thompson’s biggest draft misses.

Brian Brohm will get a head start on the Bills quarterback competition by voluntarily participating in rookie minicamp this weekend.
GM Buddy Nix revealed in March that the team will hold a three-way competition for the starting job, though ESPN’s Chris Mortensen tweeted Wednesday that it’s essentially Brohm vs. Trent Edwards. The Bills did little to upgrade their offensive line or receiving corps, leaving the quarterback as only a desperation fantasy play in 2010.

Bills coach Chan Gailey reiterated Friday that the team’s quarterback depth chart is wide open.
“There’s not a first or a third right now,” Gailey said. “We’re going to go to camp with it being an open deal. To me anybody has a chance to win the job. It’s not just lip service.” Brian Brohm threw a slew of interceptions at Friday’s practice, but he’s the only “veteran” QB currently in camp, giving him something of a head start. The Bills’ passing game is going to stink this year.
  • FA Quarterback #5
Trent Edwards took the first-team reps in all sessions at the opening of OTAs on Tuesday.
Ryan Fitzpatrick was second, Brian Brohm third, and rookie Levi Brown fourth. The competition at quarterback is open, so don’t be surprised if coach Chan Gailey mixes up the order at some point. For now, it’s safe to assume that Edwards is the early favorite to start in Week 1. He currently ranks last among all starting quarterbacks in our projections.

Louisville QB Brian Brohm was officially timed at 4.83 in the forty-yard dash at the NFL Combine.
Brohm won’t consistently be a positive yardage running threat in the NFL, but this shows good enough athleticism. Opinions seem to differ on Brohm, but at the top of this year’s QB class, the four-year starter’s accuracy stands out.

Scout.com’s Adam Caplan reports Louisville QB Brian Brohm will not participate in Senior Bowl week.
Caplan says Tennessee QB Erik Ainge will replace Brohm on the South roster. Brohm joins Matt Ryan (Boston College) as the quarterbacks who have declined Senior Bowl invites. This figures to benefit Kentucky’s Andre Woodson, who now becomes the highest rated QB at the week’s activities.

Senior Bowl president Steve Hale says Brian Brohm pulled out of the event due to a leg injury suffered in Louisville’s season finale.
This situation sounds similar to the “bursa sac” that kept Brady Quinn out of last year’s Senior Bowl. Brohm was never reported as having been hurt against Rutgers. This has the potential to hurt Brohm, however, as durability is the biggest knock against him. Quinn was never injured at Notre Dame.

Offensive coordinator Joe Philbin confirmed that Matt Flynn will have to compete with Brian Brohm to keep the Packers’ backup QB job.
“We want to see how much of a difference a year makes for those guys,” he said. Flynn had a natural leg up coming from LSU’s pro-style offense last year while Brohm was coming from a spread. Green Bay drafted Brohm five rounds before Flynn, however, and will give him every opportunity to move up.
