Frare

Frare appeared in five games this past season for the White Sox and posted an ugly 10.13 ERA and 2.25 WHIP over 2 2/3 innings. Whatever team signs the southpaw will be looking to add organizational depth, as that’s all Frare is at this point in his career.

Frare was non-tendered on Monday after surrendering three earned runs over just 2 2/3 innings at the major league level in 2019. The 26-year-old left-hander will likely open the 2020 campaign at Triple-A Charlotte.

Frare was called up prior to Sunday’s game against the Red Sox where he walked the only hitter that he faced, who eventually came around to score. He owns a 10.13 ERA and 2.25 WHIP over 2 2/3 innings in his five appearances with the White Sox this season.

Frare posted a 6.75 ERA over four appearances earlier this season with the Pale Hose. He’ll work in middle relief.

A corresponding move will be made by the White Sox on Friday before their game with the Yankees in New York. Frare made four appearances for Chicago before the demotion with a 6.75 ERA. He’ll likely be an up-and-down pitcher for the White Sox throughout the 2019 campaign.

It’s the first trip to the big leagues for the 25-year-old southpaw who was acquired from the Yankees in late July. He owns a ridiculous 0.78 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 77/22 K/BB ratio over 57 1/3 innings between Double-A and Triple-A this season. He’s an exciting young arm and could conceivably work his way into a late-inning role before the month is through.

Frare has been dynamite between Double- and Triple-A this season with a 0.81 ERA and 58/15 K/BB ratio over 44 2/3 innings, but the Yanks don’t have room for him and they would’ve had to add him to their 40-man roster this winter in order to protect him from the Rule 5 Draft. Instead, New York will add more bonus pool money ahead of their expected signing of pitching prospect Osiel Rodriguez and the White Sox will get a quality relief prospect.
