Alabama redshirt senior TE Carl Tucker is in uniform and taking part in warmups ahead of Saturday’s game vs. Mississippi State.
Tucker (6'2/248) appeared in Alabama’s first two games, but due to the hamstring injury he has not played since. However the redshirt senior, who joined the program as a grad transfer from North Carolina, appears ready to make his return to the gridiron Saturday night. Tucker, who has caught one pass for 23 yards this season, will provide additional depth at the tight end position behind starter Miller Forristall.

  • Alabama redshirt senior TE Carl Tucker (undisclosed) is still one or two weeks away from practicing.
Tucker (6'2/248) grad transferred to Alabama from North Carolina back in January, catching two passes for 23 yards in limited action this year. He had been backing up starting tight end Miller Forristall before getting hurt in their October 10 contest against Ole Miss. Before transferring from UNC, Tucker caught 36 passes for 549 yards and four touchdowns last season.

  • Alabama redshirt senior TE Carl Tucker will not play in Saturday’s game vs. Georgia due to an undisclosed injury.
Tucker (6'2/248), a grad transfer who joined the Alabama program after a run at North Carolina, has appeared in two games this season and caught one pass for 23 yards. The Crimson Tide haven’t used their tight ends in the passing game all that often this season, with starter Miller Forristall leading the position group in both receptions (three) and receiving yards (57).

  • Former North Carolina redshirt senior TE Carl Tucker transferred to Alabama.
Tucker (6'2/248) announced his decision via Twitter Wednesday night, and it wasn’t all that surprising either. The former Tar Heel officially visited Florida State and Alabama this month, but after his trek to Tuscaloosa the general feeling was that he would ultimately commit to Nick Saban’s program. Tucker appeared in 11 games in 2019, catching five passes for 54 yards and a touchdown. For his career the tight end accounted for 36 receptions, 549 receiving yards and four touchdowns in 38 games.
  • North Carolina redshirt senior Carl Tucker is strongly leaning towards transferring to Alabama after taking an official visit this week.
Tucker (6'2/248) was a three-star 2015 recruit who was granted a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA. He announced his intention to transfer as a graduate in late-December and had already taken a visit to Florida State before his recent trip to Tuscaloosa. Tucker played in 38 games over the course of his Tarheel career, catching 36 passes for 549 yards and four touchdowns. Reportedly Washington, Missouri, Tennessee and Washington have all expressed interest in Tucker, but it is unknown if he will be taking any further visits after his father stated ‘he could see himself playing at Alabama.’
  • North Carolina senior TE Carl Tucker has entered his name into the transfer portal.
Tucker (6'2/248) appeared in 11 games for the Tar Heels this season, catching five passes for 54 yards and a touchdown. Three of those receptions were recorded in North Carolina’s loss to Appalachian State back on September 21. Tucker, who redshirted in 2015 and played just four games in 2017 due to injury, will have one season of eligibility remaining at his next stop.
  • North Carolina senior TE Carl Tucker is considered to be questionable for Saturday’s game vs. Appalachian State due to a lower body injury.
Tucker (6'2/248), who caught one pass for 16 yards in North Carolina’s Week 2 win over Miami, did not play in Friday’s loss to Wake Forest due to the injury. Should the senior not be able to play against the Mountaineers, he would be replaced in the starting lineup by junior Garrett Walston. Walston started vs. Wake Forest, making one catch for four yards in the 24-18 defeat.
  • North Carolina senior TE Carl Tucker is out for Friday’s game against Wake Forest with a lower body injury.
Tucker is the starting tight end for the Tar Heels, so this is obviously a blow for their ACC showdown with the Demon Deacons. It remains to be seen if this is just a one-game issue, or if Tucker will be out for a bit. Jake Bargas will get the start at tight end in Tucker’s place.
  • The Athletic’s Grace Raynor believes senior TE Carl Tucker is a “real threat in the passing game.”
Tucker wasn’t overly productive in 2018 with just 16 receptions but showed explosiveness with 16.6 yards per reception. He flashed his big-play upside during the spring game as well with a 77-yard reception. Tucker figures to play a bigger role as a senior with senior Jake Bargas providing depth behind him.
