    Cheslor Cuthbert clobbered a solo homer on Wednesday, lifting Nicaragua to a 2-0 win over the Mets.
    Cuthbert, who didn’t play professionally last season, made his last appearance in the majors during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season when he got into exactly one contest for the White Sox. The 30-year-old infielder took Mets ace Max Scherzer deep for a solo homer in the second inning and also stole a base later in the contest.

    Cuthbert had been outrighted off the roster in late July but a thumb injury to Leury Garcia has opened the door for the 27-year-old to get another shot with the club. Cuthbert hit .246/.294/.379 in 87 games with the Royals last season and can play all over the diamond in a reserve role for the Sox.

    Cheslor Cuthbert homered twice on Sunday to propel a White Sox’ split-squad to a blowout victory over the Padres in Cactus League action.
    Cuthbert hammered a solo shot to left field off Padres’ ace Chris Paddack in the second inning and tagged him for another round-tripper -- a two-run blast to left field -- in the ensuing frame. The 27-year-old journeyman infielder is attempting to win a spot on the White Sox’ Opening Day roster as a reserve infielder. He’s a long-shot for sure, but he’s gotten off to an excellent start, hitting .360 (9-for-25) with three homers in 12 games this spring.
