    Raiders waived S Chinedum Ndukwe.
The move clears a roster spot for fellow safety Jerome Boyd. A special teamer and reserve defensive back, Ndukwe notched two tackles in two games.

    Raiders signed S Chinedum Ndukwe.
Coach Hue Jackson is collecting former Bengals. Ndukwe will depth at the back end with Michael Huff and Matt Giordano coming off of concussions. He’s been out of the league since the Bengals non-tendered him in March.
  • FA Defensive Back
Bengals signed seventh-round S Chinedum Ndukwe to a four-year contract.
He is a physical specimen but was often exposed in coverage at Notre Dame and shouldn’t be asked to do more than play special teams in the pro ranks.

Bengals SS Dexter Jackson suffered a concussion on Monday night.
He’s not expected to miss much time, but the Bengals will be in rough shape if seventh-round pick Chinedum Ndukwe is forced to start in the opener.
  • CIN Defensive Back
Bengals SS Dexter Jackson is not on the injury report for Week 1.
Jackson suffered a concussion last Monday, but has recovered and will spare the Bengals’ suspect pass defense a start by Chinedum Ndukwe, their seventh-round pick.

Chinedum Ndukwe’s strong play as a rookie may make Bengals SS Dexter Jackson expendable this offseason.
Jackson, due $1.3 million in 2008, managed only 72 tackles in 14 games despite playing behind an extremely porous Bengals front seven. He is also injury prone. Ndukwe would at worst be a cheaper solution with more upside.
  • FA Defensive Back #41
Bengals starting FS Madieu Williams and starting SS Dexter Jackson did not practice on Friday.
Williams is listed as doubtful with a sore quadriceps, and Jackson is suffering from a calf injury. The starting duo would be replaced by rookies Marvin White and Chinedum Ndukwe, which would make a nice matchup for Derek Anderson even better.
  • CIN Defensive Back
Roy Williams entered Bengals training camp atop the depth chart at strong safety, ahead of Chinedum Ndukwe.
Roy’s experience in coordinator Mike Zimmer’s scheme and run-stopping ability is giving him the edge, even if Ndukwe is a superior cover safety. It remains to be seen if Williams will exit on third downs like he did in Dallas.
