Coach Tom Coughlin revealed that DT Chris Canty required postseason knee surgery.
Canty left the playoff game at Green Bay with a knee injury. Coughlin wouldn’t go into details on the procedure, though the Newark Star-Ledger reports it was a “clean-up procedure, nothing structural.” The surgery is not expected to threaten Canty’s 2012 season.

Giants DT Chris Canty confirmed he’s fine despite leaving Sunday’s win over the Packers with a fourth-quarter knee injury.
Canty’s injury looked severe at first as he needed help to get off the field. But he was quickly cleared to return after getting examined by doctors. “Just got a little shaken up there at the end but it happens, it’s football,” Canty said. “I’m a hundred percent, I’m ready to go next week.”

Giants DT Chris Canty did not need an MRI after leaving Sunday’s playoff win with a fourth-quarter knee injury.
He’s fine. “I’m a hundred percent,” Canty confirmed. “I’m ready to go next week.” Canty finished the regular season with career highs in tackles (47) and sacks (4), and also forced a safety. He’ll start in the NFC title game.

Giants DT Chris Canty says he’s no longer inhibited by his surgically repaired knee.
“I think I’ll be ready to go (for camp),” Canty said. “There’s no swelling in my knee or anything like that. There’s nothing inhibiting me right now. I feel good.” Even if the Giants’ top defensive tackle isn’t ready for day one of camp, he appears likely to avoid the reserve/PUP.

Giants placed Hakeem Nicks (foot surgery) on the training camp PUP list.
Nicks has just begun running in a wading pool. Coach Tom Coughlin confirmed there have been no setbacks and Nicks is still on target for a return within the original 12-week timetable. Also placed on camp/PUP were DL Chris Canty (knee), TE Travis Beckum (knee) and LB Clint Sintim (knee).

Giants DT Chris Canty (knee surgery) said he will be “ready to roll” for training camp.
Canty needed a clean-up procedure following last year’s Super Bowl run. Although he did miss offseason practices, Canty now says “all signs point to go” for training camp. The Giants’ starting defensive tackle had 47 tackles and four sacks a year ago.

Giants DT Chris Canty (knee surgery) remains without a timetable for a return, but says his knee feels better than it did late last season.
Canty didn’t miss a game in 2011. “It’s just a matter of making sure that we’re smart, so that moving forward, everything will be fine,” Canty said. “We’ll have no setbacks; we won’t have any kind of lingering issues.” Canty is on the camp/PUP list, so he remains a candidate to begin the year on reserve/PUP. With the Giants dealing with a rash of injuries along their defensive line, however, Canty could be back at practice sooner rather than later.

Giants DT Chris Canty (knee) is “progressing” toward running.
Canty is recovering from a post-Super Bowl cleanup procedure. Even though he’s not running yet, he says that all signs point to go come training camp. “The knee feels pretty good,” Canty said. “It’s pretty strong now. It’s stable.” The Giants’ top defensive tackle had 47 tackles and four sacks last season.

Giants placed DT Chris Canty (knee surgery) on reserve/PUP.
Canty has declined to reveal details regarding his knee procedure, but there are whispers that he underwent a microfracture procedure. Look for either Rocky Bernard or Marcus Thomas to start next to Linval Joseph in Week 1.

Giants DT Chris Canty (knee surgery) admitted Saturday he has “no timetable” for coming off the active/PUP list, and didn’t guarantee he’d be ready for Week 1.
Canty had previously projected optimism that his post-Super Bowl “clean-up procedure” wouldn’t sideline him for camp. It now sounds like he’s questionable to play in preseason games. It would obviously be preferable for Canty to get on the field during New York’s exhibitions, but not a must for the eight-year veteran to be ready for Week 1.
