Drexel fired head coach Bruiser Flint on Monday after Flint had spent 15 years with the program.
“Loved being a Dragon,” Flint tweeted on Monday morning. “Enjoyed the 15 years. Love my guys and the people were great to me. Thanks Drexel.”
Flint went to four NITs in his first six seasons with the Dragons, but has returned to the postseason just once in the last nine seasons, although much of that can be attributed to an awful string of injuries that hit his program. His team went 6-25 this season and just 3-15 in the CAA after losing Damion Lee, who averaged 21 points as a redshirt junior, as a transfer to Louisville. Lee was an NBCSports.com second-team all-ACC player this season.
In 2011-12, Flint’s Dragons won 25 out of 26 games during one stretch but missed the NCAA tournament after losing to VCU in the CAA title game.
Flint’s coaching career began at UMass, where he was an assistant under John Calipari before taking over the program after Cal left for the NBA. He spent five years with the Minutemen, going to the NCAA tournament in his first two years.
