A report out of Chicago yesterday had a “representative” from Notre Dame recently contacting UConn head coach Randy Edsall regarding their coaching vacancy.
Shortly after that report came out, sources told the Hartford Courant that there had been no contact between the Irish and Edsall. Not yet, at least.
So today, and for the first time since his name was “officially” attached to the opening, Edsall met with the media. And did not discuss the opening. At all.
According to one report, the members of the media were warned beforehand that Edsall would only be discussing the South Florida game and would not take any questions about the rumors.
Of course, one member of the media did indeed attempt to ask a Notre Dame question, and he was promptly but politely cut off by Edsall before the question could be completed.
If Edsall is indeed play for the Irish job, any type of official contact with the university will likely not happen until after the weekend. That’s provided, of course, Brian Kelly isn’t named before an Edsall meeting can even take place.
