Iowa State recruit shoots himself in left hand

Without getting too political here, sometimes guns and football players simply do not mix. Take the case of an Iowa State recruit in California, who recently shot himself in the hand.

Running back Sheldon Croney accidentally shot himself in the left hand earlier this week. Police in Bakersfield, California say officers responded to a call for a gunshot wound and found Croney and a friend with a handgun at another friend’s house. The handgun belonged to that friend’s father. Croney reportedly fired the handgun while handling it. Nobody else was injured in the accidental incident. Police seized the gun and no charges were filed.

There is no update on Croney’s condition or whether this affects his status with the Iowa State program.

Croney was a three-star running back recruit in Iowa State’s Class of 2015 according to Rivals.
