Michigan State Lands Blue Chipper in Gholston

Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio just reeled in his biggest prospect since arriving in East Lansing, as blue-chip recruit William Gholston has committed to Michigan State.The news first started swirling when Gholston made the announcement via his Facebook page, and was then confirmed by multiple recruiting websites.The 6-foot-7, 245-pound defensive end is a tremendous get for the Spartans, pulling the top player in the state of Michigan away from dozens of top schools, including Michigan, Ohio State, Florida, and USC. Many thought his ties to Ohio State, where his cousin Vernon Gholston starred, had him leaning towards the Buckeyes.While Gholston is listed as a defensive end, Michigan State was recruiting him to play a combination defensive end/outside linebacker. As a junior, Gholston had 101 tackles and 15 sacks and was named first team All-State.
