Presumptive Heisman frontrunner Klein claims Camp honors

A dominating performance in a blowout win that pushed Collin Klein to the forefront of the Heisman discussion has also earned the Kansas State quarterback a prestigious national honor.

The Walter Camp Foundation announced late Sunday morning that Klein has been named as its FBS National Offensive Player of the Week.

In the 55-14 win over West Virginia, Klein accounted for seven touchdowns -- three passing, four receiving -- and threw for a career-high 323 yards. He also completed 90.5 percent of his 21 pass attempts in the lethally efficient performance.

Per KSU, the win over the Mountaineers was the No. 4 Wildcats’ school-record fourth straight road win over a ranked opponent.

On the other side of the ball, LSU linebacker Kevin Minter claimed National Defensive Player of the Week honors. In the No. 6 Tigers’ 24-19 win over No. 20 Texas A&M, Minter was credited with 12 tackles, two quarterback hurries. one sack, one interception and one pass defensed.
