Stephon Tuitt

After reaching his weight loss goals for the NFL Scouting Combine, Stephon Tuitt suffered a setback in his quest to be taken in the NFL Draft’s first round. The former Irish defensive end has a small fracture in his left foot, according to a report by

According to the report, Tuitt won’t work out Monday with the defensive linemen after a medical scan revealed a Jones fracture in his left foot. That injury, a fracture of the fifth metatarsal bone on the outside of the foot is often times confused for an ankle sprain, and is sometimes an overuse injury.

Tuitt has worked vigorously since declaring for the draft, dropping 25 pounds while training for the combine. A Jones fracture tends to heals in 6-8 weeks, leaving enough time for Tuitt to potentially hold an individual workout. The NFL Draft was pushed back to May 8, though the decision to workout might not be wise at that point.

Tuitt impressed with his slimmed down physique, while also showing his power by completing 31 reps on the bench press. He has yet to comment on the injury.
