In our never ending quest to beat a deceased equine senseless, we are now pleased to bring you “Tones of Contrition” starring Florida’s Brandon Spikes.
If you haven’t heard, the linebacker was suspended -- for the first two quarters of this weekend’s game against Vanderbilt -- after head coach Urban Meyer viewed video of Spikes giving the business to the eyes of Georgia running back Washaun Ealey.
Late this afternoon, Spikes issued an apology through the school’s sports information department.
“I accept responsibility for my actions and I accept the consequences of my actions. I would like to apologize to my team and the coaching staff and Washun [sic] Ealey. Football is a very physical and emotional game, but there is no excuse for my actions.”
So, there you have it. That’s it, right? Chuckle.
Tomorrow, we fully expect to hear from a leading ophthalmologist that eye-gouging is bad, from another leader in the field that it is really good for your long-term eyesight, and from Rush Limbaugh blaming the entire incident on President Obama.
