Texas Tech loses lineman to season-ending injury

After Matt Wilson partially tore the ACL in his right knee during Texas Tech’s spring practice, surgically repairing the injury was considered but ruled out as it would have cost the offensive lineman the entire 2012 season.

Unfortunately, that’s turned out to be the case anyway.

Red Raiders head coach Tommy Tuberville confirmed Saturday that the offensive tackle’s ACL has gone from partially to fully torn and as a result will miss the season. Moore will undergo surgery “any day” to repair the damage, Tuberville said.

“It just wasn’t going to work. He got knocked down one time and it got real sore on him,” Tuberville said according to the Lubbock Avalanche Journal. “They said, ‘No, let’s just go ahead and fix it and get him ready for spring ball (in 2013).”

Moore, who redshirted as a true freshman last season, had been working with the first team offense as the starter, Terry McDaniel, has been sidelined with a concussion.
