Texas Tech quarterback Davis Webb has left Thursday night’s Big 12 contest in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Webb was being treated for a left shoulder injury in the fourth quarter. According to ESPN sideline reporter Sam Ponder, he will not return tonight for the Red Raiders.
Webb had completed 35 of 54 passes for 374 yards and four touchdowns with two interceptions as Texas Tech attempted to come back against Oklahoma State. With Webb out for the rest of tonight’s game, Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury will go with freshman Patrick Mahomes. This is his debut at Texas Tech.
Texas Tech’s depth at quarterback has clearly been a concern after an offseason seeing quarterback after quarterback leave for other playing opportunities. The Red Raiders do have a high profile quarterback highlighting the Class of 2015 with Jarrett Stidham already set-up with a financial aid agreement. But tonight the Red Raiders will have to scratch something together to leave town with a win.
