As we mentioned in our post about Penn State’s three-day string of events honoring former coach Joe Paterno, there is a public memorial scheduled for Thursday at the Bryce Jordan Center.
The allotment of free tickets for that event are gone, according to the school.
The arena which will house the memorial holds approximately 15,000 - 16,000 people. PSU said there has been an “overwhelming demand” for the tickets. For a while, there were a pair of tickets on eBay for the event selling for nearly $100,000. That post has since been removed.
Additionally, while classes are not officially canceled during that time, Penn State has asked that professors use discretion for the occasion.
Another viewing for Paterno will be held tomorrow for roughly four hours, followed by a private funeral.
