‘Violating university policy’ nets Terps OL a two-week suspension

As if losing running back Wes Brown to a year-long suspension wasn’t enough, Maryland also had to issue a suspension for one its projected starting lineman.

A UM athletics spokesman confirmed Friday afternoon that sophomore tackle Mike Madaras has been suspended for two weeks for violating university policy and did not elaborate further.

The Washington Post reports that the suspension will ultimately result in just a handful of missed practices for Madaras. After starting the final eight games at left tackle for the Terps in 2012, Madaras returned as one of the more seasoned O-linemen for Randy Edsall’s team, at least in terms of starts.
