To answer your question, yes, I’m hitting on this topic in large part because I really enjoy typing the name “Squally Canada.”
Be that as it may, the aforementioned Squally Canada transferred from Washington State to BYU in mid-January of this year. It was thought that NCAA transfer rules would preclude the running back from playing for the Cougars during the 2015 season; that thought, however, could prove to be erroneous.
From the Deseret News:
The best part for both the player and the program is that, if Canada is indeed certified and eligible to play for the Cougars in their bowl game, it would have zero impact on his remaining eligibility. If he plays in the Holy War postseason matchup with Utah, he would have three years of eligibility remaining; if he doesn’t play, he’d have the same three years.
"[F]rom my understanding, [Canada] will play,” soon-to-be-former BYU head coach Bronco Mendenhall, who has accepted the Virginia job, said. “We’re preparing like he is. I haven’t received final word yet.”
A three-star member of Wazzu’s 2014 recruiting class, Canada sat out the 2014 season because of injury.
