Dolphins placed RG Danny Isidora (foot) on injured reserve.
Acquired from the Vikings at final cuts, Isidora started all three games at right guard, but predictably received poor marks from Pro Football Focus. Evan Boehm is expected to take over in his place.
  • Dolphins coach Brian Flores said Julie’n Davenport will compete for the starting role at left tackle.
Fellow newcomer Danny Isidora is also a candidate to protect Ryan Fitzpatrick’s blind side. Miami, of course, is looking to replace Laremy Tunsil, who was dealt to Houston along with Kenny Stills in arguably the biggest trade of Cutdown Weekend. Davenport was one of the least effective tackles in the sport last season, garnering PFF’s second-worst grade among 80 positional qualifiers. The rebuilding Dolphins are very much “tanking for Tua.”
  • Dolphins acquired G Danny Isidora from the Vikings in exchange for a 2020 seventh-round pick.
Minnesota’s former fifth-round pick in the 2017 draft, Isidora permitted an atrocious 10 hurries and 17 pressures in only 361 snaps played the past two seasons. Miami needs help in their trenches, but it won’t come from this trade. Isidora turned 25 in June.
  • Vikings selected Miami G Danny Isidora with the No. 180 overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft.
Isidora (6’3/306) made 39 starts at right guard for the Hurricanes, earning second-team All-ACC from the conference’s coaches as a senior. Isidora all but bombed the Combine, posting 17th-percentile SPARQ results including brutal marks in the broad jump (7’10") and three-cone drill (8.13). Neither a powerful mauler nor athletic enough to consistently hold up in pass protection, Isidora will likely have a hard time keeping a roster spot in the NFL.
