Jones signed with New England as an undrafted free agent last year before spending the season on the practice squad. A college playmaker with good measurables, Jones could get another shot.

Jones (6’1/205) led the FCS in interceptions (9) as a junior only to miss eight games with a fractured forearm as a senior. He still finished his career with 14 picks and rehabbed his stock at the Spiders’ Pro Day, blazing 4.43 with an explosive 10-foot-9 broad jump. Highly rated by NFL scouts before his injury-ruined final season, Jones is a ballhawk with NFL-level athleticism and then some. He’s a sleeper to become a Tashaun Gipson-style takeaway specialist at free safety.
