Free agent DE Derrick Harvey is visiting the Bengals on Monday.
Harvey joined TE Joel Dreessen, CB Terence Newman, and RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis in Cincinnati. The No. 8 overall pick in the 2008 draft, Harvey recorded just two tackles in five games with Denver last year after the Jaguars released him prior to training camp.

Bengals signed DE Derrick Harvey, formerly of the Broncos.
The eighth pick in the 2008 draft, Harvey has been a near-complete bust, managing just eight sacks in 52 career appearances. Harvey couldn’t get on the field in Denver last year, and goes to Cincinnati to compete for a roster spot.

    Bengals released DE Derrick Harvey.
It speaks especially poorly to Harvey’s camp showing that the Bengals recently lost LE Robert Geathers indefinitely following knee surgery. They’ll swallow a $60,000 signing bonus to release Harvey, who was the eighth overall pick in the 2008 draft. Harvey’s disappointing NFL tenure may be approaching its end.

Broncos declared DE Derrick Harvey inactive for Monday’s Week 1 game against Oakland.
Harvey, formerly of the Jaguars, wasn’t able to crack the Broncos defensive line rotation after signing in early August. LB D.J. Williams, WR Demaryius Thomas, DT Ty Warren and DT Marcus Thomas were all ruled out earlier in the week. OL Tony Hills and G Manny Ramirez are healthy scratches.

Jaguars.com’s Vic Ketchman expects fifth-round pick Austen Lane to give Derrick Harvey “some serious competition” to be the team’s starting left end.
Lane was an incredibly productive college pass rusher at Murray State, and at 6'6/274 possesses an ideal build to play strong-side end in the Jaguars’ 4-3 defense. Harvey has shown very little as a rusher. At the least, Harvey is expected to be replaced by Lane or Larry Hart on passing downs.

An AFC East scout tells the Florida Times Union that Florida DE Derrick Harvey is a “much better player” than former teammate Jarvis Moss.
The NFL Network keeps saying Harvey, listed in the 250s at UF, weighed in at 6'5/291, but the St. Paul Pioneer Press and Times Union both say he is 271 pounds. Harvey certainly doesn’t appear to be 291 in shorts. Either way, he had a solid week and will likely be a first-round draft pick.

Updating a previous item, Florida DE Derrick Harvey measured 6'5/271 at the NFL Combine weigh-in.
This is a little more like it. A previous report had indicated Harvey was 291 pounds. He could still shed some weight in training camp and kick to outside linebacker if drafted by a 3-4 club.

Florida DE Derrick Harvey measured 6'5/291 at Friday’s Combine weigh-in.
It’s not necessarily a bad thing, but this is way heavier than expected. Harvey was listed in the low 250s in college. It’d be something if he can time well in the 40 and cone drills with the added pounds, but he’s probably not playing linebacker at this weight.

Florida DE Derrick Harvey has declared for the 2008 NFL Draft.
Harvey stands about 6'5 and is on the lanky side at 250 lbs, but can get to the passer. He led the Gators in sacks with 8.5 as a junior. Depending on how he tests, Harvey could be viewed as an outside linebacker by 3-4 clubs.

The Colts frequently ran directly at Jaguars DE Derrick Harvey in Week 1, and he appeared to get benched in the second half.
Harvey opened the game as a stand-up outside linebacker in 3-4 looks, but Quentin Groves took over the position halfway through the game. It’s not a great sign for the Jags’ 2008 first-round pick, who also struggled as a rookie.
