NC State redshirt sophomore WR Devin Carter will return in 2022.
Although he participated in Senior Day activities with the Wolf Pack, Carter (6'4/212) has elected to return for another year. In 2021, he finished third on the team with 556 receiving yards, but with Emeka Emezie graduating, his could role expand in 2022.

  • Wide Receiver
NC State redshirt sophomore WR Devin Carter caught seven passes for 132 yards and two touchdowns in a 45-42 loss to Wake Forest on Saturday.
Carter (6'4/212) worked the Wake Forest defense over like a pro, catching seven-of-ten targets while stretching the field with multiple big plays. His longest play was a well thrown 54-yarder down the right sideline, while his 21-yard touchdown reception came on a well run crossing route in the back of the end zone. He also added an eight-yard touchdown with :45 left in the game to bring NC State within three points, but Wake Forest recovered the onside kick and that was all she wrote. It was a standout performance for the big wideout with this being his first 100-yard game of the season and only the second of his career. Carter will try to find the end zone again next week when NC State welcomes Syracuse to Raleigh.

  • Wide Receiver
North Carolina State redshirt sophomore WR Devin Carter registered two receptions for 51 yard sand a touchdown in Saturday’s 33-7 whitewashing of Boston College.
Carter (6'4/212) has now found the end zone three times across the past three games, and he has at least two receptions in five in a row. The big-play threat was WR Thayer Thomas, at least in this one, but the Wolfpack need to find a way to get the ball in the hands of the speedster from Clayton, N.C. He’ll look to keep up his scoring ways against the Miami Hurricanes next Saturday night on the road.

  • Wide Receiver
NC State redshirt sophomore WR Devin Carter had three catches for 65 yards in Saturday’s 34-27 win over Louisiana Tech.
Carter’s (6'4/212) overall numbers aren’t memorable, but his explosive speed is what makes him so dangerous. It seems like every time he gets the ball, he makes it a big play. This season he’s averaging 16.2 yards per reception, in Saturday’s win over LA Tech it was 21.5. NC State’s next matchup will be on the road against Boston College

  • Wide Receiver
NC State redshirt freshman WR Devin Carter caught four passes for 79 yards in a 45-24 loss to Virginia Tech on Saturday.
Carter (6'4/212) received a team-high six targets as NC State chose to spread the ball around with 11 receivers receiving targets in the lopsided loss. Game script dictated NC State would be passing, as they fell behind 31-7 in the second quarter. The Wolfpack were out-gained 495 yards to 386 yards on the day while converting only five-of-sixteen third downs. Carter also caught three passes for 30 yards and a touchdown in NC State’s season-opening 45-42 win over Wake Forest, so he has carved out a role in the offense in the early going. The towering sophomore will try to reach the end zone again next Saturday against Pitt.

    Emeka Emezie
    NCST #86
NC State senior WR Emeka Emezie was listed as a co-starter on the team’s first 2020 depth chart.
Emezie (6'3/220) shares the starter designation with redshirt sophomore Jasiah Provillon. It should be noted that every receiver position has one co-starter listed, effectively shrouding the position group with some mystery. Emezie led the Wolfpack in receptions and yards last season so he should be a focal point of the NC State passing attack. Receivers Devin Carter and Thayer Thomas were also listed atop their positional rankings and should be expected to start this Saturday against Wake Forest barring any unforeseen absences.

  • Wide Receiver
North Carolina State redshirt freshman WR Devin Carter caught six passes for 140 yards in a 45-24 loss to BC on Saturday.
Carter (6'4/212) only had six catches for 53 yards in NC State’s first 4 games, but has seen his role increasingly grow over the past three. He six passes for 118 yards in his last two games before exploding against BC. NC State managed only 56 yards rushing and were down 31-3 in the third quarter, so game-flow may have dictated some of his production rise. NC State is on by this week before traveling to play Wake Forest.
