    Braves re-signed 1B Ernesto Mejia to a minor league contract.
    He’ll also receive an invite to spring training. Mejia enjoyed a monster season with Double-A Mississippi in 2011, but turns 26 in December and strikes out much too often to think he could be successful against big-league pitching.

    Braves purchased the contract of 1B Ernesto Mejia from Triple-A Gwinnett.
    Mejia, 26, was eligible to become a six-year minor league free agent. The Braves have also added right-hander Juan Jaime to their 40-man roster in advance of December’s Rule 5 Draft.

    Braves optioned 1B Ernesto Mejia to Triple-A Gwinnett; reassigned C Matt Kennelly, SS Elmer Reyes and OF Todd Cunningham to minor league camp.
    No surprises here. Mejia has a chance to make his major league debut at some point this season, but the Braves will use Chris Johnson as Freddie Freeman’s backup at first base.

    Braves released 1B Ernesto Mejia.
    Mejia has been granted his release from the Braves, and he’ll head overseas to join the Seibu Lions in Japan’s Pacific League. The 28-year-old was off to a blistering start at Triple-A Gwinnett, slashing .354/.420/.684 with seven homers and 24 RBI in his first 20 games.
