Sal Stewart drives in six as Reds rout Yankees

Alexander was forced to leave Monday’s game, leading to Leody Taveras playing third base for the first time as a pro. He is batting ninth against the Angels.

With Jose Siri going on the paternity list, the Angels will turn back to Lowe, who was hitting .299/.397/.617 in 26 games at Triple-A with nine home runs and six steals. He still had a 26 percent strikeout rate and 13.3 percent swinging strike rate, but he was making more contact in the zone and more contact overall by being more aggressive. Lowe will have some contact issues and is unlikely to ever re-produce the season he had in 2023, but he also has intriguing raw tools and warrants regular playing time on an Angels team that is going nowhere.

This is now the fourth time Carrasco has been designated for assignment by the Braves. He will clear waivers and re-sign a minor league deal with them. As he has three other times this season.

He takes the spot of Paxton Schultz, who was optioned out after last night’s loss. It’s Palmquist’s first major league stint with the Nationals, who claimed him off waivers from the Rockies last month. He had a 6.00 ERA and a 30/22 K/BB in 36 innings between Triple-A Albuquerque and Rochester this season.

It just hasn’t come together for Ritchie, who has allowed 10 runs (nine earned) in 10 innings in his last two starts. The Braves could put Reynaldo Lopez back into the rotation, but Hurston Waldrep (elbow) could also be ready to make his season debut for Atlanta.

Hamilton was with the Braves earlier in the season but was designated for assignment after allowing three runs on two hits in one inning. He re-signed a minor league contract and is now back up with Atlanta again.

Kinley has been out for two weeks with elbow inflammation, so it was just a short stay for the right-hander. He has a 3.18 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and 31/10 K/BB ratio in 28 1/3 innings this season and will be welcomed back since Robert Suarez (forearm) is not 100 percent.

Anthony has apparently tried to swing a lighter bat, but hasn’t gotten to a real hitting progression. He’s eight weeks into an 8-12 week timeline for his sprained wrist and torn ligament in his ring finger. At this point, with the Red Sox struggling as badly as they are, we’d expect Anthony to take at least the remaining four weeks on that timeline. That puts him back after the All-Star break.

Lindor has been out since late April with a calf strain, so the Mets will love to have him back. The only issue is that Juan Soto may not have to head to the injured list with a back injury. Soto and Lindor have only played nine games together so far this season.
