Kumar Rocker recorded a career-high nine strikeouts and allowed two runs over five innings on Monday in a bulk relief appearance against the Marlins.

Rocker took over after opener Tyler Alexander fired a perfect first inning and authored one of the strongest outings of his career, needing just 76 pitches to navigate five frames. He generated an eye-popping 20 swinging strikes and finished with an other-worldly 46 percent CSW. It was a much-needed rebound performance after getting torched for seven runs over 3 1/3 innings by the Twins his last time out. He limited Miami to just five hits and got some help from his defense as a perfect relay throw from Ezequiel Duran cut down Xavier Edwards at the plate as the potential go-ahead run to end the sixth inning. He’ll get the ball against the Blue Jays in a tough road matchup on Saturday to finish off a two-start week. He’s been extremely volatile from a results standpoint, but his immense strikeout potential makes him an interesting streaming option until further notice.

Rocker was brilliant against the Blue Jays on Sunday. He scattered four hits and one walk, with just two runners reaching scoring position against Rocker. He tossed 60 of 92 pitches for strikes and struck out five batters. The 26-year-old right-hander will take a 3.83 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, and a 70/31 K/BB ratio across 80 innings into a start against the Tigers in Texas on Saturday.

Kumar Rocker lasted only 3 1/3 innings and gave up seven runs — six earned — in a loss to the Twins on Tuesday.

Rocker has been taking advantage of the pitcher friendly conditions at Globe Life Field this season, but they didn’t help much tonight. He gave up a pair of homers, the first leading off the game from Trevor Larnach and the second, from Kody Clemens, following a single and a walk to open the third. His home ERA jumped from 3.02 to 4.00, putting him at 4.17 overall. He needs to miss more bats in order to get over the hump and become something more than No. 5 starter. It doesn’t help that his average fastball has dropped from 95.8 mph last year to 94.4 mph this season.

Kumar Rocker did a nice job in a no-decision against the Royals on Thursday afternoon, giving up two runs on five hits over his 4 2/3 innings of work.

The 26-year-old righty issued a pair of walks on the day while punching out three opposing hitters. All of the damage done against him came in the fourth inning. The Royals loaded the bases with no outs, then he got Michael Massey to hit into a double play that pushed a run across, and Kameron Misner followed with an RBI single. Rocker got seven whiffs on 83 pitches on the day, posting a CSW of 25 percent. He’ll bring a 3.56 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and a 52/28 K/BB ratio (65 2/3 innings) into Tuesday’s battle against the Twins.

Kumar Rocker pitched decently in a no-decision against the Guardians on Friday night, allowing two runs on six hits in his five frames.

Rocker struck out five batters on the evening while issuing only one base on balls. He served up a solo homer to Travis Bazzana in the opening inning then allowed a run-scoring single to Steven Kwan in the fourth. That was the extent of the damage done against him. Rocker got nine whiffs on 94 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 21 percent. He’ll carry a solid 3.54 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and a 49/26 K/BB ratio (61 innings) into Thursday’s battle against the Royals in Kansas City.

Rocker was excellent on Saturday, holding the Royals scoreless over six frames. He scattered three hits and three walks, tossing 52 of 85 pitches for strikes. Rocker succeeded mostly with batted ball luck and weak contact, striking out two and inducing nine fly outs. The outing continues his trend of success at home, ending the day with a 2.95 ERA at Globe Life Field. The 26-year-old right-hander will take a 3.54 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, and a 44/25 K/BB ratio across 56 innings into a start against the Guardians in Texas on Friday.

Kumar Rocker was charged with four runs over five innings on Monday in a loss to the Astros.

Coming off one of the strongest outings of his career while pitching behind an opener, Rocker returned to a traditional start here and ran into trouble early. He hit leadoff batter Jeremy Peña, who eventually came around to score on Yordan Alvarez’s sacrifice fly. He settled in briefly before Alvarez connected for a leadoff homer in the fourth, and he was tagged for two additional runs in the fifth before exiting. He finished with five strikeouts and two walks. He’ll close out a two-start week with a favorable home matchup against the Royals on Saturday.

Kumar Rocker held the Rockies scoreless over 7 2/3 innings while striking out seven to earn the win on Tuesday.

Rocker came in as the follower in the second inning after a scoreless first from Jason Alexander. He’d go on to dominate the Rockies over 7 2/3 scoreless frames, coming one out short of finishing out the game. Rocker scattered three hits and three walks, tossing 65 of 103 pitches for strikes and generating 19 whiffs to strike out seven batters. The 26-year-old right-hander will take a 3.60 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, and a 37/20 K/BB ratio across 45 innings into a home start against the Astros next Monday.

Kumar Rocker will be a bulk reliever on Tuesday, following Tyler Alexander as an opener.

It makes some sense. Rocker has allowed 18 runs this season, and 10 of them have come in the first inning. That’s an 11.25 ERA in the first frame. Perhaps giving him an easier start to the game will help to curtail his ratio struggles. It will also make it easier for him to pick up a win, so we do like this move for fantasy purposes.

Rocker was effectively wild in this one, walking four batters while needing 97 pitches (59 strikes) to complete five frames. He finished with only three strikeouts. The 26-year-old former top pitching prospect has worked beyond the fifth inning only twice in eight starts this season and has yet to top six strikeouts in any of those outings. He’s not a recommended fantasy option when he faces the Rockies at Coors Field on Tuesday.

Kumar Rocker allowed four hits and three runs with three walks and three strikeouts across 3 2/3 innings in a loss to the Cubs on Friday.

Rocker had yet another uneven start here. He was consistently behind the eight ball, throwing a first pitch strike to only nine of the 18 hitters he faced and then barely getting the Cubs to swing at anything out of the strike zone. He now has a 5.01 ERA and a poor 27:13 strikeout to walk ratio through 32 1/3 innings on the season. Next up, he’s scheduled to face the Diamondbacks at home.

No one was robbing Ohtani’s homer off Matt Krook; he hit the ball 112.3 mph and a projected 432 feet to right. He has 18 homers and is up to third in the majors with a .958 OPS, trailing only Yordan Alvarez at 1.031 and Juan Soto at .975. He’s also second with 60 runs scored, though he’s 13 behind James Wood there.

It was a surprise that the Dodgers felt the need to add Lauer last month after a miserable start to his season in Toronto, but he’s more than justified their faith in going 3-0 with a 3.88 ERA in six outings. He’s given up six homers and nine walks in 34 1/3 innings for the Dodgers. He allowed 11 homers and 16 walks while amassing a 6.69 ERA in 36 1/3 innings before the Jays cut him. Lauer figures to start again Sunday versus the Padres.

Gage Jump yielded five runs and 11 hits in 4 2/3 innings Monday in a loss to the A’s.

This was still kind of impressive from Jump. One of baseball’s best offenses certainly got the better of the 23-year-old, but while free passes could have turned this into a true massacre, he didn’t walk anyone and struck out five. Jump is still 3-2 with a 2.93 ERA and a 40/10 K/BB over 40 innings through seven big-league starts. As tough as the situation is in Sacramento, he’s not a lock to remain useful in mixed leagues over the rest of the season. However, he seems well on his way to becoming an excellent major league starting pitcher. He’ll get the Marlins on Sunday.

The first Matchup of the Max Muncies saw the Dodgers’ veteran homer and wind up on the winning side. However, the Athletics’ Muncy got the better on the lone one-vs.-one matchup; he hit a grounder to third in the second that bounced off the bag and over Dodger Muncy’s head for an infield single. Unfortunately, Mookie Betts ultimately handled the ball, so we’re still waiting for our first “Max Muncy grounds out/singles to third baseman Max Muncy” in the box score.

None of Kuroda-Grauer’s hits came on hard-hit balls. In fact, his 93-mph groundout in the third was his hardest-hit ball of the night. Still, he placed everything well. Kuroda-Grauer figures to mostly play against lefties for now, but if he excels, he could tempt the A’s to move on from Jeff McNeil. He should be in the lineup again Tuesday against Justin Wrobleski.

After a nice May, Arenado came into this one having hit just .167/.220/.202 with no homers in his previous 23 games. Tonight’s homer was legit, though, traveling 397 feet to left. He has nine in 79 games on the season, putting him on the same pace as last year, when he had 12 in 107 games.

Despite striking out just one batter, Eduardo Rodriguez pitched seven innings of one-run ball to defeat the Giants on Monday.

One would think for Rodriguez to be 7-1 with a 2.21 ERA while sporting the worst strikeout and walk rates of his career, the left-hander would at least have to be producing an extraordinary amount of soft contact. That’s not what’s happening, though. He gave up 12 hard-hit balls tonight, and his hard hit and barrel rates are about a little higher than his career averages. It just hasn’t mattered for a full three months now. He surrendered three barrels tonight, all of which turned into outs. Two were off the bat off Rafael Devers and would have been homers in 17 and six ballparks, respectively. Rodriguez ranks fifth in the majors in ERA. He’ll take on the Brewers next.

Paul Sewald picked up his 19th save despite giving up two runs in the ninth Monday against the Giants.

Brought into a 5-2 game, Sewald allowed a leadoff homer to Heliot Ramos to start the ninth and then gave up two more hits to score another run before Drew Gilbert and Matt Chapman popped out to end the game. Sewald also gave up three ultimately harmless runs last time out, so his ERA has suddenly jumped from 3.18 to 4.50. Still, he’s blown just one save all year, and until that changes, there isn’t much reason to speculate about his job.

Tyler Mahle surrendered four runs in 4 1/3 innings Monday to take a loss to the D-backs and drop to 1-8 on the season.

It’s pretty much all or nothing from Mahle this year and more of the latter than the former; he’s pitched scoreless ball in four of his 13 starts and given up at least four runs seven times. Just twice has he allowed one, two or three runs. His velocity and strikeout rate are both up a little from last year, so there’s reason to think he’ll be adequate the rest of the way. It’s just hard to expect more than that. He’d due to make his next start Sunday in Colorado.

Cole Young went 3-for-3 with two homers to lead the Mariners past the Angels 6-2 on Monday.

Young hit a 412-foot homer off Ryan Johnson in the third and then a 406-foot bomb to right off Match Farris in the sixth. It’s his first career two-homer game. Six of his nine homers this season have come in his last 27 games. His fantasy ceiling remains low while playing in a pitcher’s park and not being much of a basestealer, but he’s been about as effective as any American League second baseman to date this season.
