Otto Lopez went 2-for-3 with his 16th stolen base of the season in Monday’s loss to the Rangers.

Lopez delivered his 31st multi-hit performance of the season, raising his batting average to a league-best .336 mark with the All-Star break rapidly approaching. The 27-year-old infielder probably deserves his first Midsummer Classic selection as the only player hitting above .300 with double-digit stolen bases. He hasn’t been a complete zero in the power department either with three round-trippers in 78 games. He’s vastly exceeded any realistic expectations from fantasy managers coming into the year and has been one of the most impactful early-season waiver wire additions.

Lopez has been one of the breakout stars of this MLB season. The 27-year-old is hitting .340/.374/.483 with eight home runs, 35 RBI, and 16 steals in 80 games. There were some skeptics of his early hot start, but this is very much for real, and he should easily be an All-Star in a few weeks time.

Otto Lopez went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and a run scored in Miami’s 2-0 win over the Diamondbacks on Thursday.

Lopez scored on a sacrifice fly in the first inning after reaching second on a disengagement violation and stealing third base. He tacked on another steal late in the contest. While he’s not going to hit .350 all year, his expected batting average of .298 screams that this isn’t exactly a megafluke. Lopez has been incredible for fantasy baseball managers this year and that should continue as the summer rolls on.

Otto Lopez went 2-for-5 with two runs batted in and one run scored in an 8-0 win over the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.

All this guy does is hit. Two more singles – both with runners in scoring position – raised his league best batting average to .342 in one of the best stories of this season. A big reason for Lopez’s massive step forward is that he’s hitting the ball harder than he ever has. In this game, he had four hard-hit balls, including one at 111.9 mph. That is harder than he’d ever hit a ball before this season began. Enjoy the ride.

Otto Lopez finished 3-for-5 with two doubles and four runs scored as the Marlins topped the D-backs 10-6 on Tuesday.

It’s the first time in 335 major league games that Lopez has scored four runs. He’s currently first in the majors with a .341 average and 89 hits. It’s very likely that he’ll fall back some as the season progresses, but it’s safe to say both the Giants and the Blue Jays would love to have him back right about now.

Otto Lopez went 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, an RBI, and a run scored as the Marlins beat the Rays 4-1 on Sunday.

Lopez stuffed the stat sheet while continuing his breakout campaign at the plate. The 27-year-old shortstop has a .336 average and a .365 OBP, but a .382 BABIP suggests those numbers might not be sustainable. Lopez’s 3.6 percent walk rate also doesn’t align with such a high OBP. That doesn’t mean he’s about to crater, but mild regression is likely in the months ahead.

Otto Lopez went 4-for-4 with an RBI and two steals in a loss to the Blue Jays on Wednesday.

Lopez continues his breakout campaign — breakout campaign seems like an understatement — and did damage against his first organization. He singled in a run in the first for his 23rd RBI, and the pair of thefts give him 10 stolen bases. Lopez is now slashing a remarkable .342/.372/.479 over the first 56 games, and while there’s going to assuredly be some regression over the summer, the metrics suggest this isn’t (only) good luck.

Otto Lopez is not in the Marlins’ starting lineup for Friday evening’s tilt against the Mets.

It looks to be nothing more than a routine night off for the 27-year-old infielder. Lopez is having a strong season at the dish, slashing .342/.373/.487 with four homers, 21 RBI and eight stolen bases in 212 plate appearances. Javier Sanoja will start in his place at shortstop and will bat ninth against Tobias Myers and the Mets on Friday night in Miami.

Otto Lopez went 2-for-4 on Wednesday against the Braves.

The Marlins didn’t do much against Chris Sale in this one. In fact, Lopez’s two singles accounted for half their total hits and none went for extra bases. Nevertheless, the two knocks raised his batting average up to a league-best .349 in what’s been such a strong season so far that it’s becoming difficult to ignore. Apart from that high batting average, he also has four home runs, eight stolen bases, and 51 combined runs and RBI as one of the true breakout stars from the first chunk of the season.

Otto Lopez finished 3-for-4 with a walk, a steal and two runs scored Tuesday versus the Marlins.

It was a good day at the plate for Lopez, but he got lazy on a big play in the eighth. Mauricio Dubón hit a weak grounder to Christopher Morel’s right at first base, and Morel wanted to fire to second for the forceout, but Lopez didn’t cover from short. Morel was then stuck without a play, and Dubón was credited with the go-ahead RBI single in a 4-4 game.

Otto Lopez filled up the box score during Sunday’s loss to the Rays, going 2-for-4 with a double, run scored, RBI and two stolen bases.

Lopez was plunked by Drew Rasmussen in the opening inning and swiped second base, but the Marlins were unable to cash him in. He then smacked an RBI single in the third inning and again swiped second base before being stranded there. Lopez also started a rally with a one-out double in the eighth and scored on an RBI single off the bat of Kyle Stowers. With his two-hit attack, the 27-year-old infielder is now hitting an impressive .344/.374/.503 with four homers, 21 RBI and seven stolen bases on the season.

Grisham completed seven innings in center field and appears poised to return to New York’s lineup for Friday’s series opener against the Twins. The 29-year-old has been on the shelf with a hamstring strain since mid-June.

Shane McClanahan allowed three hits over six innings to earn the win as the Rays blanked the Royals 4-0 on Wednesday.

Although he wasn’t dominant in finishing with four strikeouts and seven whiffs, this seems like a good sign that McClanahan’s July will more closely resemble his May (4-0, 1.41 ERA) than his June (0-3, 5.79 ERA). McClanahan walked none for the fourth time this year, leaving him with a 77/28 K/BB through 79 2/3 innings. His next start will come at home against the Yankees.

Kevin Kelly retired four of the five batters he faced for his fourth save Wednesday against the Royals.

Kelly came into a 4-0 game with two out in the eighth inning, creating the save chance. If it had been a three-run game, one imagines Bryan Baker would have gotten the ball, but since there was no save chance at that point, the Rays let Kelly finish it. After a nightmare of a 2025 season, Kelly has a 2.52 ERA in 39 1/3 innings this year.

Lugo gave up two homers, two doubles and five singles, but he was able to limit the damage by walking none (though he did hit a batter) and striking out seven. He still hasn’t fanned more than seven in a game this season, but he has now reached that total four times. The quality start tonight was his 10th, yet he has a 3-6 record to show for it. He’ll face his old friends the Mets in New York next week.
