Daniel Schneemann went 1-for-4 with a grand slam on Wednesday against the Brewers.

The Guardians only pushed four runs across in this one and they all came via Schneemann’s grand slam. Otherwise, they did practically nothing with just one more hit for the rest of the game after Schneemann’s fourth inning blast. Nevertheless, it was Schneemann’s sixth home run of the season in a part-time role with an opportunity to seize playing time in the wake of José Ramírez’s injury.

Guardians activated INF Gabriel Arias from the 60-day injured list.

The 26-year-old infielder had been shelved since early April due to a left hamstring strain. He figures to share time at third base with Daniel Schneemann for the next month while José Ramírez (wrist) is sidelined. Before landing on the injured list, Arias was hitting .200/.250/.433 with a pair of homers and four RBI in his first 32 plate appearances.

Guardians placed 3B José Ramírez on 10-day injured list with a fractured left hamate bone.

The 33-year-old superstar suffered the unfortunate injury on a swing during Saturday’s game. He’s expected to miss at least a month’s worth of action and as we have often seen with hamate bone injuries, his power may be impacted upon his return. Gabriel Arias was activated from the injured list in a corresponding move and figures to share time with Daniel Schneemann at third base to cover for the loss of Ramírez.

Daniel Schneemann went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer to power the Guardians to a 3-1 win over the Tigers.

Schneemann entered the game as a pinch runner for the injured Chase DeLauter in the first inning. He took his first at-bat in the third, taking Tarik Skubal deep for a two-run blast that would ultimately turn out to be the deciding runs. The 24-year-old outfielder is hitting .263/.337/.408 with seven homers, 24 runs scored, and 34 RBI across 270 plate appearances.

José Ramírez was diagnosed with a fractured left hamate bone and will go on the injured list.

That’s always the fear when a player starts shaking his wrist after a swing. Ramírez tends to be a quick healer, but he will almost surely miss at least a month. The Guardians are about to get Gabriel Arias back and could put him in the mix along with Daniel Schneemann at third, but prospect Angel Genao could also be an option.

Daniel Schneeman went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts against the Yankees on Wednesday.

The left-handed-hitting Schneeman was in the lineup versus Carlos Rodón today because the Guardians can only platoon four of their five left-handed starters in any one game. Schneeman, though, probably shouldn’t be starting at this point. He’s hitting .153 with no homers and six RBI in 107 plate appearances since the beginning of May. He could be a candidate for demotion when Gabriel Arias comes off the injured list.

Angel Martinez is not in the Guardians’ starting lineup for Friday night’s showdown against the Rangers.

It appears to be nothing more than a routine night off for the 24-year-old outfielder. Daniel Schneemann will start in his place in center field and will bat sixth for the Guardians against Rangers’ right-hander Kumar Rocker.

Gabriel Arias (hamstring) will begin a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Columbus on Thursday.

Arias has been on the shelf working his way back from a hamstring strain since early April. The 26-year-old middle infielder is going to need at least a handful of rehab contests to get back up to speed following the lengthy layoff. He should make it back to Cleveland by mid-June.

Guardians transferred Gabriel Arias from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.

This is procedural, as Arias has been out since April 7. Arias would be eligible to return in a week, but in an earlier update this morning we noted that Guardians manager Steven Vogt indicated he’d be out longer than this and has yet to begun a ramp-up. His timeline probably is going to be closer to late June or early July at this point.

Gabriel Arias (hamstring) has progressed to baseball activities including hitting in the batting cage.

Guardians manager Stephen Vogt indicated earlier this month that Arias was going to be out longer than the original 4-8 week timeline from the club after hitting the shelf with a hamstring strain back in early April. He’s going to need at least a couple weeks to ramp up physical activity before he’s cleared for an extended rehab assignment given the lengthy layoff.
