Jacob Young (hand) is back in the lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Astros.

Young returns to center field following a brief two-game absence due to left hand soreness. It doesn’t appear to be a significant concern moving forward. The 26-year-old outfielder has delivered a career-high eight homers along with eight thefts in 277 plate appearances through 83 games this season.
Mariners call up elite pitching prospect Anderson
The Seattle Mariners called up top pitching prospect Kade Anderson, who is expected to start against the Chicago Cubs this Saturday. Eric Samulski emphasizes why he should be added in all fantasy formats.

Randy Vásquez hurled seven innings of two-run baseball Friday in a victory over the Twins.

Vásquez allowed only two hits, and one of those was a two-run triple by Cody Clemens. Outside of that three-bagger, it was a solid effort for the 27-year-old that saw him issue zero walks with three strikeouts. You can’t rely on these kind of results from Vásquez, but you can’t completely dismissed the possibilities of them coming either. He will take a 9-6 record and 4.19 ERA into a scheduled start next week in Pittsburgh versus the Pirates.

Travis Bazzana stole a base, drove in three runs and went 4-for-5 in a 9-1 blowout win over the Rockies on Friday for the Guardians.

Bazzana singled for all four hits. The 23-year-old’s steal gives him 16 on his rookie campaign, while the three-RBI night bumps that total to 39. Bazzana has had some real ups and downs, but the future certainly looks bright for the 23-year-old based on those aforementioned ups.

Patrick Bailey hit a three-run homer in a 9-1 victory for the Guardians over the Rockies on Friday.

Bailey connected on a three-run shot off Zack Agnos that turned a comfortable 5-1 lead into an 8-1 blowout. He’s homered seven times in 2026, and six of those have come in 58 games since being traded to the Guardians. Bailey is in the league because of his prowess behind the plate rather than his success at it, but he does occasionally remind why he was a first-round pick six years ago.

Joey Cantillo allowed just one run but didn’t factor into the decision after throwing 4 2/3 innings against the Rockies on Friday.

Well that’s frustrating. Cantillo left with a 4-1 lead, but because he got 14 outs instead of 15, it’s a no-decision. The southpaw allowed four hits, but more importantly, walked four which caused him to throw 89 pitches for exiting the contest. The 26-year-old was able to whiff five and lower his ERA to 3.72, but this was more frustrating than impressive, respectfully. He’ll get another friendly matchup against the Angels next week.

Tanner Gordon was charged for five runs in 5 1/3 innings in a loss to the Guardians on Friday.

Gordon has pitched decently when used in bulk, but his traditional starts have been mostly disasters. Guess what kind of outing this one was? The right-hander gave up nine hits, walked two and struck out just a pair while seeing his ERA shoot up to 5.75. Gordon is eating innings for the Rockies. He’s eating something else in fantasy. He faces the Nationals on Wednesday.

Yordan Alvarez went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI in Friday’s win over the Athletics.

Alvarez doubled in the fifth inning to drive home Nick Allen and put the Astros up 2-0. On the next at-bat, Alvarez would come around to score on an RBI double by Issac Paredes. Alvarez doubled again in the seventh inning to drive in another run, extending the Astros’ lead to 4-0. Alvarez has hit safely in each of his last three games and is slashing .283/.405/.433 in the month of August.
