Braves select contract of Connor Thomas

Ortiz singled in two with a sixth-inning grounder. The funny thing is that he had the hardest-hit ball of the game, a 106-mph liner to left, but it was the only out he made on the night. Ortiz is hitting .417 with two homers and eight RBI in 12 games this month. His OPSs by month are .481, .565, .640, .930, .830 and 1.071.

Nick Gonzales did Misiorowski a big favor in the fourth, when he had a bad read and decided against trying to score on a groundball single that deflected into the outfield. Ryan O’Hearn saw the ball and assumed Gonzales would keep going, so he was thrown out between second and third. It should have been a 1-1 game with runners on the corners and one out at that point. Instead, Misiorowski escaped the jam without any damage, and he got the win in spite of a rather quick hook after 82 pitches. He’s 15-5 with a 1.89 ERA. Next up for him is probably in start in Philly on Tuesday, unless the Brewers would prefer to have him make a shorter start on four days’ rest Sunday against the Orioles.

Soto came in with the Pirates down 1-0 and erased their chances of winning by giving up two walks and two doubles. Soto also gave up two runs in the eighth inning Saturday to take a loss and a blown save, so as a free agent to be, he’s costing himself some money here at the end of the season.

The homer came off reliever DL Hall, making it his seventh of the year against a lefty. It’s his third 30-homer season; he had 39 in 2021 and 31 last year. That’s really mostly about health, though; he slugs the same every year, but the 30-homer seasons are the only years of his career in which he’s topped 110 games.

They weren’t all hit hard, but having a perfect day while facing Jacob Misirorowski twice and then Aaron Ashby and Trevor Megill is awfully impressive. Flores also went 2-for-3 throwing out basestealers. He’s hitting .275/.336/.508 in 131 plate appearances.

Anderson gave up two hits, walked three and struck out four. He improved to 5-6 with the win. Anderson has a 2.58 ERA with 31 strikeouts in 38 1/3 innings over eight starts since moving into the Tigers’ rotation in early August. He’s not currently schedule for another start and could move back to the bullpen with 11 games remaining in the season.

Bazzana has 14 home runs on the season. He hit a solo shot off Chris Murphy in the first inning and another solo shot off Davis Martin in the sixth inning. Bazzana has been more of a solid contributor than difference maker in fantasy so far. He’s hitting .252 with 14 home runs, 19 stolen bases, 52 runs scored and 56 RBI.

Adell’s home run was his 22nd of the season. He hit a two-run shot off Chris Murphy in the first inning. Adell has two home runs in his last three games. He’s hitting .239 with a .698 OPS and 90 RBI.

Taylor was one out away from a two-inning save, but he lost a two-on, two-out battle with Bryan Rocchio, who hit a walk-off two-run double. He’s allowed at least one run in four consecutive appearances. Taylor has a 2.41 ERA and should remain the favorite for saves with the White Sox.
