Mariners president of operations Jerry Dipoto told reporters that Dominic Canzone will see regular playing time against left-handed pitching.

Canzone began the year strictly playing against right-handers, but his success with the bat — he’s hitting .273/.349/.551 with 14 homers — and injuries have seen him see more playing time against southpaws, and it’s going to become more consistent. The 28-year-old was strong with the bat as well in 2025, and it’s time to take Canzone more seriously as an option, even as a player who won’t steal a ton of bases and may be due for some regression in the average category.

Canzone’s 14th homer was clubbed 401 feet to right-center. His .273/.349/.551 line gives him an even .900 OPS. Since he often sits against lefties, he doesn’t qualify for the batting title, but that .551 slugging percentage is good for 10th in the majors among players with 200 plate appearances.

Raley remains stapled to Seattle’s bench for the sixth straight contest, but figures to be available to pinch-hit at some point. He struck out as a pinch-hitter during Saturday’s contest. The 31-year-old masher has been dealing with an illness in addition to a lingering back issue for the better part of the last week. It’ll be Dominic Canzone heading out to right field with lefty-masher Rob Refsnyder at DH to face his former club.

Canzone is hitting .440 with six homers in his last 17 games, pushing his OPS all of the way up to .940. He doesn’t play against lefties and he doesn’t steal bases, which puts quite a cap on his fantasy potential. However, he’s been one of the AL’s better hitters against right-handers since the beginning of 2025.

That’s just the sixth homer of the season for Guerrero, but it’s the second time in three games, for those looking for hope heading into the break.
