Josh Jung (knee) out third consecutive game

Jung has gone 2-for-7 with three runs scored in a pair of games after missing three contests earlier this week due to right knee soreness. It doesn’t appear to be a concern heading into the All-Star break.

Jung remains out of the Rangers lineup for the second straight contest due to right knee soreness. It doesn’t sound like a potential injured list situation, but the fact that he’s not back following a couple days of extra rest is mildly concerning. There should be some clarity on his status in the coming days. It’ll be versatile Ezequiel Duran filling in at the hot corner in his absence.

Jung was going to try to give it a go but tested his knee out on the field before the game and ultimately the decision was made to give him the afternoon off. It’s possible that he could be available in a pinch-hit situation. Ezequiel Duran will cover third base in his absence and bat cleanup against Tigers’ right-hander Casey Mize.

It’s the fourth straight game that Nimmo has missed with a sprained AC joint in his left shoulder. The Rangers remain hopeful that he’ll be able to avoid a stint on the injured list, but if this extends into the weekend, their hand may end up being forced. Ezequiel Duran will once again start in his place in right field and will bat third for the Tigers against left-hander Framber Valdez on Thursday evening in Arlington.

Seager was just activated from the concussion injured list on Thursday, so it’s likely that the Rangers are simply easing him back into action and giving him a day off with a left-hander on the mound. Ezequiel Duran will start in his place at shortstop and bat sixth for the Rangers against Patrick Corbin and the Jays.

It looks to be nothing more than a routine night off for the 28-year-old slugger. Ezequiel Duran will cover third base in his absence and will bat sixth for the Rangers against Blue Jays’ right-hander Kevin Gausman.

Seager took batting practice on Tuesday but was unable to clear concussion protocols in time for the day game on Wednesday. There remains a strong chance that he will play on Thursday in the first game against the Blue Jays. Ezequiel Duran will start at shortstop on Wednesday with Nicky Lopez at second base.

Duran broke a scoreless stalemate with a fourth-inning moonshot to center field off Marlins starter Tyler Phillips that traveled 407 feet. It was his sixth big fly of the season. The 27-year-old also made a phenomenal defensive play a couple frames later when he fired a relay throw to the plate to cut down speedy Xavier Edwards with the potential go-ahead run. He’s emerged as a key contributor for the Rangers this season but still doesn’t offer a ton of fantasy appeal outside of deeper mixed leagues where his multi-position eligibility is a nice bonus.

The Rangers continue to monitor Seager’s workload as he ramps back up following a stint on the injured list, so expect to continue to see days off mixed in as necessary. He’s also a bit sore following a collision during Thursday’s game. Ezequiel Duran will start in his place at shortstop and will bat fifth for the Rangers on Friday evening against the Red Sox.

Jung’s home run was his eighth of the season. He hit a solo shot off Joey Cantillo in the third inning. Jung continues to hit as his average is up to .313 with an .855 OPS. He’s been one of the big surprise performers this season and should be in the mix for All-Star consideration.
