Mets designated RHP Matt Seelinger for assignment.

It’s a tough 24 hours for Seelinger. The 31-year-old Long Island native made his MLB debut with the Mets on Tuesday but was thrust into a 9-9 game because the rest of the team couldn’t stop the Royals from scoring. Seelinger then allowed seven runs on five hits in two innings and has now been let go.

Rafael Flores Jr. is batting fourth and playing first base for the Pirates against the Cubs on Friday.

It’s his eighth appearance as a first baseman this year, but probably one of the last with Ryan O’Hearn activated off the injured list. Nevertheless, Flores has slugged .549 in his last 23 games and has worked his way into more playing time at catcher.

Andrew Fischer hit his 47th homer of the season for Double-A Biloxi on Thursday.

It’s the most homers hit by a minor-leaguer this century, and the fifth-most dating back to 1963’s creation of the player development contract. He has 27 bombs in 69 games with Biloxi. Fischer, now the fifth-rated prospect on MLB Pipeline for the Brewers, has some swing-and-miss but the light-tower power makes him a very intriguing fantasy prospect.

Pirates optioned INF/OF Ronny Simon to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Simon has hit .281/.324/.313 in limited time with the Pirates this year, but loses his roster spot to Ryan O’Hearn coming off the injured list. He’ll likely be the first player called up if the Pirates lose someone else to injury over the final weeks of the season.

Pirates activated 1B/OF Ryan O’Hearn from the 10-day injured list.

Pittsburgh’s lineup is back to full strength as they try to keep pace with the NL Wild Card leaders. O’Hearn can be plugged back in to the lineup in daily transaction leagues and seems like he’ll be safe to use in the final few weeks of the season.

Justin Steele (elbow) allowed four hits and two runs over two inning at Triple-A Iowa on Thursday, striking out three out of the bullpen.

It seems both the Cubs and Steele came to the conclusion that he won’t get built up enough to help as a starter in the postseason, so he is attempting to come back as a relief weapon. His four-seamer was sitting at 89.3 mph, so that’s not ideal. We’ll see if he can make it back before the end of the season.

The Athletic’s Chandler Rome believes Carlos Correa (ankle) could return for the final six games of the season.

Correa and manager Joe Espada have both hammered home the point that he’ll need a rehab assignment if he returns; it sounds like this weekend will be huge for Correa at the Astros spring training facility. If it goes well, he could go on rehab assignment next week and return for the final week of the season.

Yankees optioned OF Jasson Domínguez to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

With Aaron Judge’s return going well, and Spencer Jones lapping him in the playing time order, the Yankees simply don’t have a spot for Dominguez right now. The 23-year-old has hit .225/.267/.368 in 222 plate appearances in the bigs with six homers and eight stolen bases. He may eventually wind up being a reclamation project elsewhere with Judge, Jones, and Cody Bellinger ahead of him on the depth chart.

Braves recalled CF DaShawn Keirsey Jr. from Triple-A Gwinnett.

He’ll take over Lane Thomas’ roster spot. The 29-year-old is hitting .247/.303/.346 in 426 plate appearances for Gwinnett this year with 40 stolen bases, so perhaps he’ll get some run as a pinch-runner down the stretch.

Braves placed LF Lane Thomas on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to September 8, with a strained left intercostal muscle.

He’ll likely miss the remainder of the regular season. Zero fantasy impact here outside of perhaps fewer rest days down the stretch for Atlanta’s main outfielders.

Corbin Carroll (back) is expected to return to the Diamondbacks’ starting lineup for Friday’s series opener against the Rangers.

According to John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports, the Diamondbacks didn’t find anything concerning in Carroll’s MRI exam and the expectation is that he’ll return to action on Friday after missing each of the Diamondbacks’ previous two games. Fantasy managers should be able to breathe a sigh of relief.
