Seelinger was a notable relief prospect a couple seasons ago, and was even picked up by the Phillies back in 2021 during the minor league portion of the Rule 5 Draft. The 29-year-old righty spent the first couple months of the year dominating the independent Atlantic League with the Long Island Ducks, recording 11 saves to accompany a sublime 0.44 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 31/8 K/BB ratio across 20 2/3 innings (21 appearances). He’ll get another shot in affiliated ball with the Tigers and it wouldn’t be shocking to see him ascend to the majors at some point down the road.

The Padres are obviously proceeding with an abundance of caution and will wait to see how Pivetta responds before determining his next steps. The 33-year-old set off alarm bells when he abruptly exited a minor league rehab start, but appears to have avoided serious injury. There’s a chance he’s back in San Diego at some point in the final few weeks of the year. He’s been out since mid-April due to a flexor strain in his elbow.

As expected, Chapman’s season is officially over. The 33-year-old has been out due to a lingering abdominal issue since early July and wound up requiring surgery to address the issue. He’s expected to be a full-go for the start of spring training.

The Giants are going to have to make a roster since Drew Cavanaugh is their only healthy backstop on the entire 40-man roster. The 25-year-old fractured his kneecaps when he fouled a ball off it over the weekend.

Ortiz sits for the second straight contest after leaving Saturday’s game against the Twins with neck tightness. David Hamilton draws another start at shortstop in his absence. It’s possible he’ll require a trip to the injured list if he’s not ready to go in a couple days.

It appears to be a matchup-based decision with lefty Noah Cameron on the hill for Kansas City. Tucker has shown some real signs of life recently, hitting .298 (14-for-47) with four homers and one steal over his last 15 games. It’ll be Tommy Edman and Teoscar Hernández in the outfield corners for Los Angeles in this one.

Harper is at DH for the second time in the last three games as a return to the outfield has resulted in worsening knee soreness. It doesn’t sound like it’ll keep him out of the lineup, but it’s a situation that fantasy managers should monitor closely. Phillies interim manager Don Mattingly told reporters the issue stems from Harper fouling a ball off his knee prior to last month’s All-Star break. These are the type of downstream impacts that come with a midseason positional change, especially for a veteran who is several years removed from patrolling the outfield on a regular basis.

Peralta lands a spot in Los Angeles’ bullpen with Shaun Anderson hitting the injured list. The 28-year-old signed a minor league deal with the Angels back in late June. He allowed three runs over 2 2/3 innings for the Rockies earlier this year.

Anderson has posted a lackluster 7.65 ERA across 20 innings over 12 relief appearances for the Angels this season. The 31-year-old journeyman is probably done for the remainder of the year.

Peoples returns to the big leagues with starter Nathan Eovaldi hitting the shelf with elbow inflammation. The 25-year-old has posted a solid 2.19 ERA across 12 1/3 innings for the Rangers this season.

Eovaldi was slated to take the ball against the Angels on Wednesday. The fact that he’s dealing with posterior elbow inflammation is a relatively encouraging sign, but fantasy managers are probably going to have to wait for additional evaluation and imaging before drawing any definitive conclusions. The 36-year-old has posted a serviceable 4.21 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 137/32 K/BB ratio across 132 2/3 innings this season. He’s been a borderline top-75 range fantasy starter on the year. There should be some additional clarity on his status in the coming days.
