Guardians placed LHP Tim Herrin on the 15-day injured list with a left elbow contusion.

Herrin took a comebacker off his pitching elbow, but X-rays came back clean for any fractures. He will take time off to allow the swelling and bruising to go down.
NYY draft pick Dietz can be 'front of rotation' SP
As a 6-foot-6 lefty hurler joining a Yankees organization that prides itself on pitching development, Arkansas' Hunter Dietz possess the upside to eventually blossom into a top of the rotation arm.

Herrin is day-to-day with a contusion after taking a comebacker off his pitching elbow during Wednesday’s relief outing against the Twins. He appears to have avoided serious injury, but will probably need a couple days off for the pain and swelling to subside before he’s able to pitch again. It could be an injured list situation if the Guardians don’t want to go shorthanded in the bullpen during their last couple games prior to the All-Star break.

Herrin was drilled in the arm by a line drive off the bat of Oneil Cruz. The ball appeared to hit him just above the elbow on his left arm. He’ll head for further evaluation — and possibly imaging — to see exactly what’s going on there. The Guardians should have an update on his status shortly.

The Guardians needed to free up a spot in the bullpen for Cody Morris on Friday and it looks like Herrin was once again the odd-man out this time around. The 26-year-old southpaw has struggled in his opportunities with the big league club this season, compiling a 5.53 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 32/12 K/BB ratio across 27 2/3 frames.

JT Brubaker allowed one run over two innings with two strikeouts to convert a save against the Rockies on Saturday.

Brubaker was summoned in the top of the eighth with a three-run lead. He gave up a solo homer to Kyle Karros before returning for the ninth to close it out. He got the job done with a strikeout and two groundouts, securing the win for the Giants with his first save. Caleb Kilian was presumably unavailable after pitching in back-to-back games, but he will likely get the next save chance.

The 33-year-old left-hander holds a 7.36 ERA, 1.57 WHIP, and a 79/18 K/BB ratio at the break.

Dodgers activated RHP Landon Knack from the 60-day injured list.

After a bullpen day Friday, the Dodgers wanted to add a long man tonight, just in case something goes wrong in Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s start. Knack had been out since the end of the end of the spring with an intercostal strain. He’d made three rehab appearances with Triple-A Oklahoma City, allowing one run in three innings last time out. He’ll likely rejoin the Comets either after tonight’s game or tomorrow’s.
