Paul Skenes allowed one run in seven innings and got the win in the Pirates’ 7-1 victory over the Guardians on Sunday.
Skenes gave up seven hits, walked two and struck out eight. He improved to 9-8 with the win. Skenes picked up where he left off before the All-Star break and now has allowed two runs or less in three consecutive starts. The 24-year-old right-hander has a 3.43 ERA and 3.14 xFIP. He’s lined up to face the Cubs at home next weekend.
