Luis Rengifo went 1-for-1 with a two-run home run in a 4-2 win over the Marlins on Friday.

Rengifo was the hero here. He was called upon to pinch-hit for catcher Luis Campusano and he launched a back-door sweeper from Marlins’ reliever Tyler Zuber out over the right field fence. He’s now appeared in seven games since being picked up by the Padres after the Brewers released him and has gone 10-for-23 with two home runs.
Angels' Joyce firmly among MLB's 'best relievers'
James Schiano breaks down Ben Joyce's recent play after he recorded his third straight save on Tuesday night, sharing why he needs to be "scooped up" in fantasy leagues.

Phillies transferred LF Felix Reyes from the 7-day injured list to the 60-day injured list with a right wrist fracture.

The 25-year-old was a brief Phillies lineup solution in May and had recently gone on the IL at Triple-A Lehigh Valley; this move clears a 40-man spot for new waiver claim Andrew Hoffmann. It seems likely Reyes’ season is over.

Phillies claimed RHP Andrew Hoffmann off waivers from the Diamondbacks.

It was reported that Hoffmann was to be released on Wednesday, but it turns out it was simply release waivers. The Phillies have claimed the 26-year-old and he will likely report to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

MLB.com’s Martín Gallegos reports the Athletics will send Jacob Wilson (shoulder) to the injured list and that is season is likely over.

Wilson has missed five of the last six games while dealing with a shoulder injury that will likely require offseason surgery. With the A’s going nowhere, this move makes plenty of sense — might as well get the rehab started early. Wilson hit .266/.298/.388 in 80 games this year while dealing with the injury.

William Contreras is not in Milwaukee’s starting lineup for Thursday’s game against the Mariners.

It appears to just be a routine day-game-after-a-night-game rest. Gary Sánchez is batting cleanup against RHP George Kirby.

Cal Raleigh is not in Seattle’s starting lineup for Thursday’s game against the Brewers.

Raleigh has three hits in his last 34 at bats in what has been one of the most disappointing follow-up seasons in baseball history. He’s still walking, but that won’t help most fantasy managers. Jhonny Pereda will grab the start against LHP Robert Gasser today.

Walker Jenkins homered again Wednesday for Triple-A St. Paul.

Jenkins is now batting .380/.436/.640 in August with three homers and three stolen bases in 12 games. The Twins would appear to have an opening on paper for a strong-side platoon outfielder that could play over Luke Keaschall, but Keaschall is hitting .345/.426/.569 in August and the Twins don’t appear interested in moving him back to the infield.

Seaver King went 3-for-4 with another home run for Triple-A Rochester on Wednesday.

He also, notably, played third base. Perhaps that opens a September call-up pathway for King, who has homered in 6-of-10 contests for Rochester and is currently hitting .375/.467/.719 since returning from an oblique strain on July 30.

Giants recalled LHP Reiver Sanmartin from Triple-A Sacramento.

He was optioned down literally yesterday to make room for Matt Wilkinson and now comes back up as Keaton Winn was placed on the injured list. Sanmartin is just a low-leverage up-and-down arm.

Giants placed RHP Keaton Winn on the 15-day injured list retroactive to August 19 with right elbow neuritis.

He was already on the injured list for a right elbow strain earlier this year so we’re concerned that this could be something chronic that needs to be dealt with. Winn hasn’t made a real play for the closer’s role so this move has no fantasy impact. He carried a 3.65 ERA in 12 1/3 innings since returning from the injured list, but had walked eight and struck out just seven along the way.

Jacob Wilson (shoulder) remains out of the Athletics’ starting lineup for the fifth time in six games.

Darell Hernaiz is starting at shortstop and batting ninth against RHP Randy Dobnak. Wilson remains a prime candidate to head to the injured list, especially now that the Athletics lineup is already injury-depleted as they finish off the season.
